Rob: I'm aware of Acorn. Come up with more. State by state Republican governors and majority GOP legislators are coming up with ways to cut people out from voting. Each and every time they claim voter fraud, voter fraud, voter fraud. There is very little.

I came up with an example. It's not a claim. It ended up in a prosecution whereby the guy was found guilty. It was concrete. Yes, of course the guy was a GOP operative. You called him an asshole.

Browntwn gave a great reasoned discussion of the issues, including why Texas is a state under extra scrutiny. The voting rights bill of 1965 was overwhelmingly passed by both parties with that feature that highlights Texas and some other states that particularly had a serious history for discriminating against blacks on this issue. The voting rights act was revisited in 2006 and passed again.

While there is a lot of ranting about voter fraud, over a long history few cases have been found and prosecuted. Its primarily a serious NON ISSUE. History has shown that to be the case.

The issue on the other side, of tightening voter limits by reuiring ID's and other elements once again strikes to the issue of discrimination. The overwhelming number of people who will lose the right to vote will be poor, less educated, probably black or hispanic.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention something else. All the GOP governors and GOP legislators know these people tend to vote for Democrats.

Instead of a real issue about a real problem of voter fraud this is a fake issue raised by Extremists on the Right who simply don't want people to vote who don't like the extremists.

To tell the truth it sounds exactly like what a dictator would do. Ever check those dictator "elections" when they get somewhere between 98 and 105% of the vote. The GOP effort to scream and wail about an historical non issue is essentially a mechanism to keep political opponents from having a right to vote.

Speaking of calling people names... read my post again... the whole thing, not just one word. ACORN was mentioned briefly at the top, but was not the subject of the post. At least pretend to show respect for the people you're talking to.

You should know, just bringing up that long dead news story is considered racist by those on the left. Sure they stood in front of a polling location, yelling racist epithets at voters, and carrying night sticks. Sure the evidence against them was overwhelmingly damning. Sure the case got dropped the minute Obama took office. Sure the investigation into the investigation showed interference by the Obama admin:

The fact of the matter is, in spite of overwhelming evidence of the crime, in spite of overwhelming evidence of the cover up, in spite of the findings above of a two year long investigation by the Civil Rights Commission, followed by a year long investigation by Congresss, this issue is done. Over with.

Not only is it dead, those who try and keep it alive are labeled racists.

While it may be mildly humorous to see the [lack of] genius in using an ethnic slur while accusing someone of racism, the story on the whole is deeply disturbing. Not only will the criminals caught on tape never be brought to justice, thanks to the help of their accomplices in the white house, but even bringing it up makes you a racist.

Watching Obama's/Holder's Justice department sell guns to Mexican Drug lords, hand immunity to clear cut cases of voter intimidation, sue states that enforce the borders the federal government wont, and block any reasonable state law to prevent voter fraud, it is no wonder we are 23rd on the Corruption index, behind Chile and the Bahamas.

I wouldn't be surprised if we find out Obama talked Israel into not striking Iran's nuclear facilities, not out of the best interests of the United States, but rather out of his need to create the best chance of being reelected. what a scum bag.

I belive NOTHING will bring petrol prices down whilst countries are fighting climate change. The world has signed agreements to cut emmissions and high petrol prices is part of the strategy. IMHO, this statement is incorrect. I'm guessing you are well aware of this. Sure, doing that may create jobs but will adversely affect the bigger plan. BTW we pay $6 a gallon. With our dollar at US$1.05 it's higher again.

I certainly am. So is Obama. So is every other person with an IQ over 80 that has been paying attention. You refer to climate change, but I am talking about alternative energy which I suppose the climate change people link to the cause.

At $2.00 a gallon, alternative energy is not going to get the kind of funding it gets at $5.00 a gallon, or better still $10.000/gallon. Steven Chu has said it out loud, and Obama has concurred. Not only that, Obama has taken federal actions to make sure that those higher gas prices become a reality. He has shut down drilling in the gulf, vetoed the Keystone pipeline, and issued by far fewer permits to drill on federal land than any president before him.

These are the facts as you know them and I know them. In effect, there can be no denying that at least some portion of our high gas prices are directly related to Obama's policies, and that by design.

So why is Obama denying that connection like some kind of hypocrite? If he had even an ounce of character, he'd take ownership of the prices, the reasons for them, and the justification. Instead, he just lies lies lies lies lies about how he is completely out of control of those prices. Its pathetc.

Sure, the way I see it is Mr Bush would not have been allowed. We both know the GOP is not a real party, it is simply a lobby group for the corporates. There wasn't a chance Mr Bush could have got through cutting down on oil with so many of them beholden to the oil companies. Plus we both know Mr Bush made much of his money from where? You guessed it, oil. Now I will also submit the Democrats are also lobbyists for corporates, though I believe less so.

Then, when you consider Mr Obama was elected because Americans wanted "change", I would go as far as admitting he has supplied nowhere near enough of it, but indeed, weaning America off oil is certainly a change, and, if we believe in anthropogenic warming, a change for the better.

TBQH I haven't heard him deny anything, or lie. He has made a decision to comply with climate agreements, a decision against Republican ideals. It is Wall street with the free pass to gouge away at oil prices, and of course, they are, but I bet not one of them are doing it to help the planet.

ADDED: Of course the other thing to consider is NOW IS THE TIME to get the oil from overseas and SAVE American oil for as long as you can, once it's gone it is gone. You just went through a hell of a time acquiring the rights to billions of dollars worth of ME oil and it looks like the ME will turn away from helping us westerners as democracy falls and Islam via the Brotherhood descends all over it. There's NO better time to be importing it. Plus of course importing moves the sustainability and responsibility aspects of the climate agreements solely onto the ME allowing the USA time to re-tool manufacturing whilst staying within output limits agreed to.

    Hey, Earl:

If requiring a photo ID is nothing but a ploy to suppress voters, is Hawaii engaged in voter suppression? How about the other 14 states that require a photo ID?

In summary, 15 states have photo ID requirements to vote, 8 of which put them in place in the last year. 32 more states have legislation pending to require photo IDs, for a grand total of 47. With such broad spread support across practically every state in the union, the Democrats and the NAACP are appealing to the UN to somehow override and dictate our voting process to us? I suppose we could learn a lot about human rights from Saudi Arabia.

What if people would get a federal ID card when they turn 14 ? This way everyone would have IDs , aliens would be mostly gone and fraud would be a helluva lot harder to do .

There are many good organizations that benefit African-Americans. The NAACP is not one of them.
