Would you rather have a president who makes light of stupid things they did in the past, or one that regrets those decisions and has worked to overcome them?

Bush obviously knows he did bad things and has overcome them. I don't recall him ever making light of his addicitons and drug use. Clinton lied about them. Obama maybe has "grown up" but obviously doesn't really think he did anything wrong to begin with.

Do we want honest politicians that admit errors in judgement, admit wrongs and make amends or politicians that are just honest?

I prefer sincere people...all people have done their fair amount of crappy stuff in the past... but only few are admitting it

I don't mind that he smoked or inhaled it. Clinton shouldn't have lied about it, but I don't care that he did or Bush did. Never saw why liberals make such a big deal with Bush. If liberals had any intelligence, they would be able to look into the future and know that one day, they will have a candidate who has done the same.

The difference is, liberals will have to change their opinion because of it.

Smoked some pot? Got drunk one night? Farted in an elevator and blamed it on someone else? Had sex with a midget in Reno? I can give a pass for those. Sell our country out like Kerry? No, no pass there.

Putting a user in office would be the best thing for this country. Someone who can accept two perspectives.

Kerry has two perspectives, often at the same time. That tends to happen with drug use.

I think I'd be more comfortable if Obama talked about it and admitted it was a stupid/pointless thing to do that did nothing for his life.

But to just play it off, I don't trust his judgement.

I think it is an issue if he thinks it was okay. That shows a severe lack of judgement skills.

    I think everyone should.

Imagine going up to your wife with a big grin saying "hey honey I've been sleeping with other women!" and when she objects say, "isn't it great how honest I am!"

It's one thing to be an idiot in your youth. It's quite another to not learn anything from it. Obama has obviously not grown up.

Glad to see someone being honest! Also, like the post above, I don't see how you can put smoking pot in your youth and cheating on your wife in the same category...

The point is that just because you're honest about it, doesn't make it okay.

If you think smoking pot is a good thing then I guess you'd side with Obama.

If you think smoking pot is a bad thing then you'd probably think that Obama is an idiot.

I think most of America does not think that smoking pot (or doing any other drugs) is something to be proud of. Especially when you're supposed to be a mature adult that intends to lead a nation. Mature people recognize the stupid things they did in their youth and move past them.

I don't think smoking pot is necessarily a bad thing but it's idiotic to joke about how much pot you smoked. Pot may not kill you but it does impare your judgement.

    but it is ok

if you think that smoking pot is a "bad" thing bad enough to be ashamed then you are way up tight

I think that most of America has tried pot and knows it not a big deal, and if people would stop acting like it is a big deal, maybe the would finally legalize it and stop wasting my tax money on arresting pot heads.

real people recognize that there wasn't any real harm in some stupid things they have done, and joke about it later in life

It has nothing to do with being ashamed it has to do with saying

"I did this thing back when I was young but now I've grown up and I realize it was silly."

America is not ready for a pot friendly president. Getting stoned isn't funny unless you're an immature young adult. He's trying to appeal to the young "hip" crowd.

That crowd doesn't tend to vote and they don't tend to swing elections.

And yet they have the sense to not gloat about it. They grew up. Obama has not.

So 'they' have grown up and Obama has not grown up?

Do you have some inside knowledge??!??!! Maybe you should email bill o'cheesey and give him his next big story: "leftist Obama has not grown up!".
