    The speech without commentary:

    Bill O's take on it:

Even Bill O likes this speech. The ultra left and especially the black left don't like hearing this. Bill Cosby is still getting blasted for saying this a few years ago. This is one of the most important internal issues we face as a country and things will never get fixed as long as people are afraid to address it.
Almost all the problems in the black urban community(and the lower class white communities as well) is caused by a breakdown of the family, particular the lack of a stable father figure.
There's a lot of things I disagree with Obama on, maybe the biggest is on energy policy, but this speech alone is enough to make me consider voting for him. Why? Because a white politician cannot address the issue honestly. If Obama has the balls to address this issue and blacks and ultra left whites seem somewhat willing to stop making excuses and get their own house in order this could cause one of the biggest positive changes in American society possible.

    Here's some notable quotes:

"They've abandoned their responsibilities. They're acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our family have suffered because of it."

"We can't simply write these problems off to past injustices. Those injustices are real, there's a reason our families are in disrepair and some of it has to do with a tragic history, but we can't keep on using that as an excuse. Some of it has to do with the failures of the government and those failures are real, but we can't keep on using that as an excuse."

"We need families to raise our children. We need fathers to recognize that responsibility doesn't end at conception."

"It's the courage to raise a child that makes you a Father."
