Then I'd suggest you stop digressing, Mia, and end your incessant need to work out your personal demons, by constantly trying to malign other members worthy of honorable consideration, or, in the alternative, constantly playing what I would sure call childish, subterranean games (rep bombing campaigns, posing as me [and others?] on other websites, etc.).

I totally agree, Harold. I would personally love to see a national discourse that includes true conservatives, not the religiously political aberration that has overtaken the rightist wing of the G.O.P. over the last stretch of time.

Sounds great, but the only drag is you have to go by horse.

That little racist stunt Barry pulled with the cop has sent him spiraling into the abyss. He's still dropping.

No one is shifting blame, I've always hated political hypocrites.
    I don't see any failure.
    I'm working.
    I'm making money.
    I have health insurance.

He is keeping every single campaign promise and things are going just like he said they would.

How fast did you expect him to repair the damage done in the last 8 years, mop up 2 ground wars that someone else started, and tackle a Trillion dollar deficit ? 3 or 4 days ?
He's the President, not Harry Potter.
With all your bitching about Obama, I never hear you offer any specific complaints about policy, certain legislation, or offer any alternative solutions to things you don't agree with....just taking any opportunity to bash him just on GP.
    (General Purpose).

Also....Don't quote polls and numbers without showing the source. Anyone can find any poll that is slanted enough to say what they want...so don't put down numbers like they are gospel and attach them to what ever you want...It's highly misleading, irresponsible and a cheap move that only losers make.

As am I and the majority of people out there. I just don't credit Obama with that. He had nothing to do with any of that.

    You really believe that?
    Are you friggin serious?

What damage are you referring to specifically? The out of control spending by democrats, the last 30 years of housing oversight by the CRA, and people like Pelosi,Reid, Frank and Franks gay lover?

Fannie and Freddie ring a bell here? All he's doing is continuing down that path of dependency.

You must live under a rock or something. Your buddy Barry's been racking up a multiple trillion dollar spending spree. We never heard this "trillion" number mentioned with regard to spending until Barry fell into office.

To be more accurate, it actually took Obama about 30 days to spend 3 trillion. Yeah, he's tackling that deficit alright. He's adding to it. That's ok though, you're going to be paying for it in the end.

He is the president, correct. And he's also an idiot.

Actually I have. You are too hell bent on taking a pacificst approch to dependency to actually digest what I've been saying here for several years.

    Pot meet kettle.

Without being able to know more, my read of the Gates thing is that Gates blew it, in overreacting; the officer in question is likely a good man; and the Prez blew it in not knowing more before chiming in.

HOWEVER. It isn't out of nothing that these sentiments come. Here's a little gem of joy sent around by a Cambridge cop (the same department as Crowley), in response to the Gates story:

    (Emphasis Barrett's).

I call that racist. As I have called, I think rightfully so, naming Obama as an Uncle Tom, that only "guilt-mongering whites could vote for," racist. And, calling Obama a guy who learned how to child rape ("because he's a muslim extremist plant - as we all know"), bigotry in the extreme.

It isn't "always racism"; neither is it "never racism". Anyone who holds to either position is blind, in my opinion.

His polling numbers are definitely dropping now (although he did jump 2 points back up to 54 today) ... I'm hoping this is the bottom, because we really need the President to stay reasonably popular during this health care reform debate.

I think the positive side is that while Obama has lost support from McCain voters, those of us who actually voted for Obama have wavered very little and certainly would vote for him again against any of the loons the Republicans are going to put up.

It's a long time until 2012, but as of right now I wouldn't be particularly worried. You can't expect the 60+ numbers to last forever.

Dude, you have some serious anger, finger pointing blame issues about Obama. I didn't like a lot of the policies of George Bush, but I didn't hate him and I still respected the Office of the Presidency.
You don't have any of that.
The only thing you have towards the 7 month old President is he is responsible for everything that is wrong. He is doing nothing right, and although he has more education than you (and won the election) ...you call him an idiot.

The "Democrats" did not spend alone, and did not even control the House in the last administration, so why are you still pointing the finger at "them" ?

The difference between you and most reasonable people, is reasonable people can actually look at issues first and then make decisions or opinion. Reasonable people are also able to admit and point out mistakes even when they come from their own party.

You just hate and blame everybody that doesn't believe the way you do.
    Everything is the "Democrats" fault.

What's wrong with bailing out companies that were going to fail to save them and the jobs, if they are paying us back with interest ?
What's wrong with giving money to states that were going into bankruptcy so they didn't have to cut back on services or lay off police and teachers ?
What's wrong with money for infrastructure ? Don't you remember the bridge in MN that collapsed ? Our roads and bridges are falling apart and many dams are in danger of collapsing without proper maintenance.
What's wrong with "Cash for Clunkers "? People are buying cars and it's getting gas guzzlers off the road.
What's wrong with overhauling health care so medicare doesn't break us in 10 years ? You know as well as I do that medical professionals and suppliers are overcharging the hell out of the Government on medicare contracts and services.
What's wrong with pulling troops out of Iraq ? It was a stupid war that most Americans disagreed with in the first place.
What's wrong with helping home responsible owners from foreclosuer ?

    The GNP has stopped bleeding.
    Housing is making a comeback.
The stock market is on record pace to beat 20 year averages this month.
    Companies are reporting quarterly profits.

He has done more for the actual people of the country than Bush did in 8 years and only 1/3 of the stimulus budget has been spent.

So let me ask you, of the things that you disagree with now concerning the job of the Obama administration (which is everything) what things would you do differently ?
What would YOU do and how ?
I'm not talking about Clinton, Carter, or even Bush....I'm talking about where we are now, and what what great bits of wisdom you have now to run the U.S. Government that you feel is not being done to accurately represent you.

Basically, if you have some better ideas...Let's hear them !
Pull out your constitutional law education, and economics degree and tell us what you think we should be doing right now oh great one.

While SOME of those items MIGHT be worthy, NONE of them can be used as an excuse to borrow 1.7 TRILLION DOLLARS from your grandkids. You should know better. The problem with Democrats is that they can't stop spending other people's money.

And the idea that some moron out there was stupid enough to borrow 110% on his house and finance the mess with an ARM doesn't bother me in the least. The idea that you think I should pay for those fool's stupidity really makes me doubt your sanity.

I've got my insurance, go get you own. Yourbama keeps professing that government run health care is the way to go and now you tell us that medicare is broken? Can't have it both ways. 1.6 trillion? Really??? Obama "is not familiar" with the house bill, but keeps pushing to get it through. What is responsible about that?

He says you can keep your current insurance. But when you leave your current employer you are not allowed to sign up for insurance with your next employer, leaving government health care as the only option.

Then there is the whole "Soylent Green" philosophy that he is trying to sell.

What about Cap and Trade? How worthless is that? Yourbama keeps professing that it will not increase our taxes. True, but disingenuous. By raising taxes on electric companies and oil companies, Yourbama insures that our cost for this energy will increase. It's not a tax, but it will still cost each and everyone of us.

Nice spin on the whole "giving money to states so they don't go bankrupt". Every dollar "given" to states, comes with strings attached that require that state to invest more tax dollars into more and more government programs that last long after the stimulus money is gone.

Just so you don't think that I hate everything about him, I kind of like Cash for Clunkers. I wish that the $4500 were only paid for American made cars.

I wonder how long your socialist agenda would last if you had to pay income tax in order to vote.

The problem with socialism is that eventually, you run out of other people's money.

What's wrong with bailing out companies that were going to fail to save them and the jobs, if they are paying us back with interest ?

Because if a company fails, it opens up space for a new one to take its place that does the job better and more efficiently, and in the long run generates more jobs.

What's wrong with giving money to states that were going into bankruptcy so they didn't have to cut back on services or lay off police and teachers ?

Because once a state fails, and it fails hard, changes are made. If you keep pumping in the status quo, not a damn thing will change.

What's wrong with money for infrastructure ? Don't you remember the bridge in MN that collapsed ? Our roads and bridges are falling apart and many dams are in danger of collapsing without proper maintenance.

Isn't this a loaded question? Money for repairs and such is fine, but if you want to make sure shit gets done, force the contractors to give you a warranty. If the bridge fails after they do work on it - they have to pay the damages. That way, the bridge wont fail... otherwise it is very costly. This would imply hiring out a private firm to check them, fix them, and pay them to maintain them. Failures from that point on would then cost the contractor - not the state government.

What's wrong with "Cash for Clunkers "? People are buying cars and it's getting gas guzzlers off the road.

It's subsidizing the auto industry that should have never been bailed out to begin with. If those automakers had failed as they should have for making shitty vehicles, then new companies would take their place.

What's wrong with overhauling health care so medicare doesn't break us in 10 years ? You know as well as I do that medical professionals and suppliers are overcharging the hell out of the Government on medicare contracts and services.

Because it is broken to begin with and needs to be done away with. The only reason medicine is expensive is lobbyist and government controls already in place that make it profitable for big pharma to make money. You cut out big pharma from the government and I goddamn guarantee you that prices will fall like cement boots on Jimmy Hoffa.

What's wrong with pulling troops out of Iraq? It was a stupid war that most Americans disagreed with in the first place.

Nothing is wrong with it. I am for pulling out of every damn country and cutting off aide to everyone too. They're not our responsibility and we are not the World Police.

What's wrong with helping home responsible owners from foreclosuer ?

That was a hard one. Not because of the meaning - but because I couldn't understand what you wrote there. I think you meant:

"What is wrong with helping responsible home owners avoid foreclosure because they had sub-prime mortgages with rates that shot up"

Well, actually if they were responsible they would have never gotten the mortgage to begin with or would have been ready. Getting a better loan is always paramount - but the blame cannot be shifted away from them... but it also cannot be theirs alone to bare. The companies who issued these loans were doing so recklessly, and they should have to absorb the loss and go under - not be bailed out.

That remains to be seen. Many in his administration have already seen waste that can save billions if we get them under control.
Bush didn't pay for any of the programs he passed including prescription drug relief fro seniors. He just left it dangling, racking up a bill with no way to pay it. You are paying for that.
No one is asking YOU to pay for someone else's mortgage, and the funds go to responsible homeowners, not unrealistic ones. People that were victims of unscrupulous lending practices come in all income levels and races.
And it's not money to homeowners, it was part of the incentive to in the bail out funds that went to financial institutions to work with responsible homeowners that were having a tough time, to help them refi into a reasonable rate. Basically, "If we give you money, you had better help these people"...and they will be paying back the money with interest...some already have begun. It's not costing you anything. Have you seen an increase in our taxes? Because I haven't. So you aren't paying for anything.

I think when we talk about Health Care and any kind of legislation that helps people, some Americans get this image in their head of poor Black people and Mexican illegals sponging off of the system and getting a hand out. I know many aquaintences that have believed that with every fiber of their being..except for the ones that have been laid off and find themselves "White and Right" but with no job, or health care....and making that move for the extension of unemployment benefits.

By the way, when you see those stats that say that some proposed plans will cover 97% of uninsured Americans (not 100%). Do you know what the other 3% is ? Undocumented, illegal aliens. Most of the proposed plans being discussed in Congress have no provisions for covering illegal aliens....so in effect this will actually help squash that problem of illegals getting a full ride on not having insurance. It's amazing that all the card carrying REP's keep ignoring that, yet still keep spouting fear to others that "you'll be paying for everyone health care". It's not correct. Read for your self.

You need to stop watching the 30 second commercials by PAC's (supported by the insurance, and pharmaceutical industry by the way) and take the time to actually read the bills. Those commercials are targeting lesser educated people who will not read the actual documentation for themselves and rely on small snippets of half truths to make a decision. The National Inquirer crowd.

That's the way it is now. You are either a contract worker and health care is immediate as part of the contract, of you are an hourly worker and you have to wait 90 days, or 6 months for health care. That is what we have now.

By the way, read the friggin bills. It's not government run health care !
Nothing is written in stone yet. It's just proposals. Why is everyone so sure they know what they are talking about when none of this has been voted on, or finalized, there is no way all the people that have labeled and dismissed the health care initiatives know what they are talking about because it is no where near done.

They are going to raise them anyway ! Has there ever been a year when they didn't raise rates ? They are going to do it again just before winter, especially in the east where people still rely on heating oil. It never stops.
It's not a spin. Yes, Government sponsored programs like Green Energy, Infrastucture and Education...DO you really have a problem with that, or should we just continue to be a big bloated, fat, over eating society until we lose all place and respect in the world ad our kids can't compete on a world stage anymore ?

I thought the same thing, but it's a new world. Toyota, Honda, and many other makers that we used to consider "imports" are made in America now, with American workers. It's not the 70's anymore.

It's not my agenda. I don't have a personal stake in this. I'm an American. You don't have a problem with spending, you just have a problem with who spends it.

As long as it's your parties candidates spending the money, it must be going for the right things, but when it's DEM's, it must be for welfare. That's OK, a lot of people in America are like that, until it's them. Holier than thou, and feel that only weak mined, uneducated people ever need any help.

I have a friend that is a nurse. She's white, middle class, No Kids, Attractive, and educated. She actually works in a Hospital, and doesn't have Health Insurance. There is a problem with that.

If you don't think that Health Insurance companies have been sticking it to Americans for years, while making record profits, you have your head in the sand.
They have been overcharging, under testing, and over pricing things for as long as I remember.
Most of the country has insurance through their employer, and it's an HMO. By its very nature, a person who is also responsible for the companies bottom line, decides what procedures you can have, and which ones they won't pay for. Even if it can possibly save your life. They won't pay for a possibility to save a life. That needs to be changed.
Aspirin don't cost $12 a dose. That needs to be changed.

You think that a Health Insurance Co-Op will make you pay for other peoples health Insurance....RIGHT NOW, people who have "Cadillac" health plans, meaning the very best available with the highest cost, get a tax break on those plans. So right now, you are paying (with your taxes) for the health plans of higher income people. That is RIGHT NOW !
    That needs to be changed.
Our county's Senior Citizens rely on Medicare almost exclusively. Medicare is getting raped and pillaged with price gauging. Badly. Medicare providers are charging the Gov. astonimical amounts for things and there is no room for price negotiation. It was written into an amendment during the Regan administration..so Medicare providers are charging the Gov $1200, for a $400 wheelchair. That needs to be changed...it's breaking us. and you are already paying for this.
He's trying to stop this and you are fighting him on it ?

The distain is not politics, it's personal. Cracks like "yourbama" shows that you just have a disgust for him and will probably not be willing to look at anything that you deem his idea objectively.

If you would stop and actually listen, he is not asking anyone to pay for anyones insurance. This is not a "free insurance, socialized medicine" proposal. He is trying to stop waste, and stop insurance companies from treating us unfairly. Saving money on waste will enable competition so more plans are available for people who need them. You still have to pay for your own insurance. He is not proposing that the Government pay for people's insurance, or that you be made to take a "Government" plan.
Although, I would take the one they have, it looks pretty good.

You have to remember that health Insurance was not something that was offered by employers. It used to be something that you purchased on your own, but after so many years of bloat, the only way now for most people to afford it, is if the employer takes the hit for half the premiums. Insurance companies figured out years ago that it was beneficial to hit large companies with the premiums, instead of the individual worker...then they could charge more and make more money.

At first, it was a great incentive for employers, now it's a big burden. For many companies it's more than half of their operating expenses.

Obama is rapidly becoming the GORBECHAF of American presidents: more popular in foreign countries than he is in his own turf!

Similarly, it was "Gorby" who was wildly popular in the US & Europe -- but he is universally despised in his own country (Russia).

It's been 7 months. You are already calling for his demise ? I hope you are not American.
I have never seen so many people just hate their own President on GP.
Even I gave Bush a chance to prove himself. I didn't start questioning him until 2 years in.
It's the Government for God's sake, not Twitter. You can't get immediate results.

    Yeah? Like what?

So what? Are we talking about Bush here? No. Maybe you think that Yourbama is justifying his stupidity "because Bush did it"? It won't work. You should know better.
No, I'm not. Our grandkids are.
You are correct. No one is asking ANYONE to pay for ANYTHING!!! That leaves it to our grandkids.

Oh, stop with the "I'm a victim" crap. These people were so stupid or so greedy that they did not prepare for the future. I'm making my mortgage payment. What is fair about our grandkids paying for my stupid neighbor's mortgage?

Really? What is a reasonable rate? Currently 5.25%? What is wrong with that? These idiots bought houses at 3% interest. When their rate adjusted TO A REASONABLE RATE, they could no longer afford the payment. "They were victims"... Like hell!!

Again, thank your grandkids. What is fair about that?

You're kidding, right? That is where the Democrats get all their voters! Entitlement programs make the poor reliant on the government. Republicans do not like entitlement programs. Democrats buy votes with entitlement programs.

And the majority of those are on the Government tit for less than six months. What is your point? Should they not be responsible for their bills during that time?

And this is what he told Katie Couric: "I'd like to create a situation where we're dealing with illegal immigration, so that we don't have illegal immigrants. And we've got legal residents or citizens who are eligible for the plan. And I want a comprehensive immigration plan that creates a pathway to achieve that."

Nice try. Making them all legal IS NOT the solution.

    Hahaha!!!

Really? What commercials are you talking about? You assume that I watch TV? True Blood and Dexter. Some Enterprise off the Tivo. No Commercials for me, thanks.

Yourbama, wants to allow you to keep your insurance. He just won't let you sign up at your next job. That IS NOT the way it is now. What world are you living in?

Yourbama can't wait to sign them. He doesn't even know what is in them. You are making this too easy for me.

Oil companies made 7.8% profit last year. The national average is 7.5% for all businesses. Microsoft made something like 48% profit. Your point is moot.

What does "big bloated, fat overeating society" have to do with the issues at hand? A little absurdity on your part?

No we cannot spend additional money on those programs when we can't pay for what we have now. What is wrong with you?

Again, my preference would be to spend that money on AMerican cars.

Sorry bud. You clearly don't know me well enough to make those assumptions. We are going to hell in a hand basket because we keep printing money. We spend too much on EVERYTHING!!! Holier than thou??? Nope. Just frugal. It's nice to be able to pay your bills.

Why? Because health care is a right? You liberals crack me up. If she were a good nurse she would look for a different job that offers insurance. Save your tears for someone else. I'm not buying it.

Aspirin costs $12 a dose to pay for the deadbeats that are GUARANTEED FREE HEALTH CARE in the emergency room. I wish I knew what percentage of profit the insurance industry makes. I suspect that it is high.
I have to agree with you on this one. Some legislation exists protecting the insurance industry from government regulation. Is that right?

Agreed, but why do we need to tax those health plans?

    Agreed.

Well, since you've judged me a dozen time already, why stop now?

That is buul crap and you know it. If not for your Blue Dogs, he would have already signed legislation costing us 1.6 TRILLION DOLLARS. Yourbama is a product of America's entitlement program. He thinks that the best thing for America is to provide more entitlements.

You chose not to respond to Obama's "Soylent Green" plan. Smart move on your part.

Obama is up +4 over the last 2 days... That's very good news for America. We need our President popular during this health care reform debate so that he can push through the changes our country so badly needs.
