Mixed feelings about this. Isn't gamerland where we go to get away from all this? I mean it's a brilliant idea, and if I saw the ad while gaming on election day it would most certainly remind me that I need to get off my ass and go vote. But still... is nothing sacred?
Horrible idea personally. People are finding that it's a horrible idea to advertise in video games for any type of product. I have purchased a few ads in online video games and it really sucks. The industry is moving away from it because gamers aren't interested. They don't pay attention to real ads in the game and they actually have found that most gamers act negatively to the companies that had the balls to push their agenda in their game. And trying to garner votes from gamers won't work either. If you give hardcore gamers time off of work to vote, they will be at home doing, you guessed it, gaming....
I play first person shooters exclusively so I tend to shoot at the ads to see if I can make them explode (waits for Wade to make a comment about liberals and guns haha)
I was just doing that last night in Saints Row 2. Play a Mayhem mission and earn money by destroying billboards and signs, yippie!
