Obama Accepts Nobel Prize - Echos of George W. Bush

For anyone who just caught Obama's Nobel Prize acceptance speech in Norway, it was pure GOLD. He spent what felt like an hour explaining to the people who nominated him why war was important and necessary, why the war in Afghanistan was just, why the world should help the US in Afghanistan, and how real "evil" exists in the world. If it weren't for how he looked down his nose at all of them, I could of sworn it was Dubya up there on that stage accepting a Nobel Peace Prize. CLASSIC!

This is really shocking to see receiving a person Nobel Peace prize who is the President of a country that is involved in the war with two nations that has caused the death of several thousand innocent people.

Yea I watched the ceremony and I was also surprised what his speech said between the lines and also explicitly, namely the criticism of Iran. I think that this shows the next move of the administration.
The sentence I remember the most is: "War is sometimes necessary", which is an unusual sentence in speeches of Nobel peace prize laureates ;)

You guys will never be happy will you.

I remember saying it best prior to last November: "Careful what you wish for".

That said, you guys made your bed, lie in it. We're stuck with him for another 3 years. Get over it.

I can't help but think the whole speech, and snubbing of the Norwegian government afterward was his way of flipping off the Nobel Prize committee who selected him, and saying with a mighty voice "F#$K YOU!". The guy had no control over being chosen. It came as an unwanted gift. He knows as well as the rest of the planet he didn't deserve it. It didn't help him, and I would say it has hurt him politically in his own country. Its like your girlfriend giving you an STD. Thanks but no thanks.

He may also have felt like they were trying to manipulate him into pulling out of Afghanistan early, at the very same time the political pressure was peaking inside the US to pull the trigger. I'm sure that didn't make him very happy with the Norwegians either.

I had also considered that many American's consider anti-Bush sentiment from a non-American as a anti-American sentiment and that maybe Obama pushed back against that, but then again, given the quantity of apologies coming from the man to date, I had to cross that one off the list.

Excellent thread. I didn't watch the speech, but read it just now. He has a way with words, doesn't he?

    hello
i suspect that Obama paid lot of money to the Nobel Prize Committee otherwise he is not eligible for Nobel prize so if you have money and political power so you would buy it.i think there are lot of other people who are not worth full for Nobel but unfortunately we cant take the prizes back ..

No, you can't take the prize back - Obama's actually donating it all to charity.

For this, I don't think he's earned criticism.

Wyclef Jean, Will Smith and Jada Pinket Smith were there with their kids, that was interesting. The speech wasn't that great.

    Obama: War is Peace.

    http://www.wctrib.com/event/article/id/60848/group/news/

This guy is a complete stooge. He is even worse than George Bush. Don't believe me? Look up the video of Obama without his precious teleprompter.

I hope people who voted for this farcical character have wised up to how we are being played against each other.

Keep in mind that Nobel had no idea that his inventions would be used for anything other than a peaceful purpose. Man, not the creator of such things determines their use.

Left vs. right is a diversion. We all argue about things the people really running things don't care about and they keep doing what they do.

Remember when George Bush was president and he did so much to stop illegal immigration being that his "right wing" constituants wanted something done? Remember Bill Clinton helping working class Americans by keeping sweatshop-produced products out of the country? (BTW, ever notice how your Doc Martens didn't get cheaper when they moved production to China?)

The U.S. and U.K. have been deindustrialized and these people talk about global climate change to further burden the people with taxes and other scams to make the Al Gores of the world rich while China pollutes so much they made the Olympic Atheletes sick.

This is always the same, even when a given party controls both houses of congress and the presidency. Now we have Barack "War-is-Peace" Obama lying his way into the presidency and continuing the big boys' plan.

If Obama were real, Bush, Cheney, et al. would be on trial. Then again if he were real, we would never have heard of him.

But if I were, I would have rejected the prize.

good conspiracy theories never fail to show up on just about anything...

Well, at one + year, I am officially disilliusioned. Obama has clearly been sold to us in a shell game, and real pacifists are pissed.
Of course, we should have known it wouldn't be that easy. The puppet masters decided that an illusion of change was necessary, given the lamentable history of the US in this millennium.
Makes me wonder how much is mind control, and how much deliberate deception. Candidate Obama came off as sincere. President Obama is redefining hypocrisy.
What can they do to the man in the oval office, he who depends on men with earpieces for every bit of news?
What sort of conditioning would shake his natural inclination to bring about the change he promised?
I still believe in his heart he meant it at the time. Power of this magnitude invites massive manipulation.
The hawk element has no intention of letting go. A state of permanent war, waged against shifting adversaries, has become the main export of the 21st century.

One way or another, this darkness got to give.

Obama is sending 30,000 more troops off to war and six days later - he gets the Peace prize. This is a warped world - and so hypocritical.
