    Hey there all,

I live in New Zealand. I am in the process of planning and building a website that is intended for the NZ market.

The thing is this. I am using Joomla as my CMS and the cost of hosting off shore is quite alot cheaper.

Now what I would like to do is optimize my site to show up in local results ( namely google as it is 97.5% market share here )

But I am unsure whether it would be better for me to host my site in New Zealand in regards to optimization?

Does it really make much of a differance if I have a .co.nz domain hosted off shore? Could I get the same results if it was hosted here?

Also when optimizing would it pay to focus on backlinks from local sites with .co.nz domains?

    Thanks again

    Timbor.

If your domain extention will be .co.nz then I'm sure search engines are smart enough to figure out its related to people in New Zealand. Well, atleast it should be! :D

you would hope so wouldn't you. But I thought i would ask the question regarding it.

If anyone does know to a certainty that it would not be a problem, please let me know.

    Cheers,

    Timbor.
