Number of words on homepage

    I was writing a text for my new website and thought how many words shoul my homepage have? Any experience? I was thinking about 1,000...

    About 250-300 thats enough for SEO. Anything over 300 will simply not be read and largely redundant. You can then link to any additional information which is good for usability and seo.

    The more words on a page (within reasonable limits), the better its chances for ranking high on Google for a variety of keywords.

    True, but how much information spider "takes" with it? I'm sure it won't copy 10MB of text :)
