Is it possible for one domain to hold more then two places in a SERP for a Key word? I see examples of a domain holding two places for a key word in both google and msn, but I can't seem to find an example of one domain placing in more then two positions for a keyword. Is this possible? Do google and msn view subdomains as different in this regard? For instance, could red.widgets.com hold two positions and www.widgets.com hold two positions as well? Thanks, Andy
Yes, this happens all of the time. Maybe not so much in the top 10, but expand your search to 100 and you'll see subdomains popping up in the results.
I have one domain that displays 2 positions is serps from main url... www.domainname.com and www.domainname.com/pagename.htm. Highly competitive keyphrase (44,000,000). It has been this way since last PR update.
I know you can get two positions for one keyword, I am wondering about getting more then two positions in the top 10 or 20 for a keyword from a single domain.
I will suggest that if you manage to pull that one off with Google, that it will be very short lived. Google is very wise to webmasters trying to dominate top postioning.
This was the original question asked. RARELY do I see this with Google, with the other SE's I see it more frequently. However, I have observed doorway pages found in top ten serps pointing to the same site in Google.
