Hi All As the title says im curious/wondering about the number of plugins in a wordpress site/domain. How many would you suggest to have as an absolute maximum before it impacts the site i.e. slows the site (is possible) ? Thanks & Kind Regards mrhrk01.
very interesting question, on some sites i have had upto 12-15 and have not seen a decrease in performance but then perhaps there is a further issue such as code bloat
I don't think there is one solid answer. I think every Wordpress blog should have the exact number of plugins it takes to deliver the blog's content in the exact way that makes it most desirable to the readers looking for that information. For some blogs this may mean 2-3 plugins, for others it may mean 15-20.
The wp-super-cache plugin will actually speed up your web pages. You may want to disable statistic plugins.
I'm using : - xml sitemap.. - all in seo pack - post layout - wp anti spam free - random post - related post plugins totally is 6 plugins
I am using below given plugins. -All in one seo -Contact Form -WP DB Backup -Social Bookmarking -Popular Post -Related Post -Akismet DON.
Thanks All for your input. I am curently using about 15 plugins i believe, but am looking to cut the number down. I just wanted to know what other Digital Point members thought about this issue.
I try to keep my use of plugins minimal, i try and stick with the ones that really serve a purpose and that get updated often, on all of my blogs theres not one with more than 10 installed.
That is a great question and good replies. What I do is try to keep it to the min. Whatever ones I really dont need I turn off and delete just to try to keep my wordpress as clean as possible. I am not sure how it affects performance though.
