number of pages & backlinks

Since I am new to this forum: HI to everybody!

My webpage on Personal Coaching has 25 pages, 23 of which are listed in Google, the two remaining are relatively new (2 weeks). Despite that, since January only 21 show up in the page number column of the Keyword Tracker. Can anybody explain that to me?

Similarly with Page Rank: My site dropped to PR3 in January, with 3 backlinks. Since then, I have added quite a lot of backlinks, in total I have now 4 PR4s, 8 PR5s and 2 PR6s. Still, only 3 backlinks are indicated in the backlink column.

Not to speak of my PR itself, which is still at disappointing PR3.

Any idea, when all that might finally get a move on?

BTW, I want to thank you at digitalpoint for this excellent tool, which makes investigations of the kind cited above reasonably feasible at all! :)

    Rgds

The pages in URL data in the keyword tracker is only updated when back links are updated. So if it's showing 21, then that's how many you had during the last Google back link update.

Why Google doesn't report more back links, I'm not sure. But the keyword tracker only reports on Google data. So the only one that could answer that would be Google...

Every 2-5 weeks... not on a set schedule though.. Last one was about 1 1/2 weeks ago.

Thanks, Shawn, for info. Sometimes, however, the update may last months - as the example with my backlink-log shows...

Finally: yesterday, backlinks went from 3 to 18, number of pages from 21 to 23 (the remaining two have still not be found by G, so no wonder they don't appear in the list) and PR from 3 to 4. :D

Happy Easter to all of you!

I have a related question. When I check googles cache today for my keyword [link: resalebroker] the results show 128 pages. Each result pertains to my site.

When I check the links to my site however [link: www*resalebroker*com] the results only show 19 pages.

    Why the difference?

Make sure you don't have a space in your "link:" query.

Thank you for responding. The heart of my question is, if google has 128 pages cached that have my url in them [back link right?] then why aren't these showing up on a back link search?

By the way, when I omit the space for the link search I get zero (0) results.

My guess is the pages with the links on them are too low of a PageRank to be shown publicly.

How you are checking backlinks? if you google link:xyx then all the links will not show up. All your index links are shown in Google Webmaster Account. You need to register here and get your website submitted at Google webmaster. This is the right way to check backlinks of your website. Just wonder if all the backlinks are shown-up at Google openly, your competitors will copy them easily.
