Number of Message Boards out there?

Anyone know of a rough number? any estimates.

 

what do you mean by mesage boards , i think you are talking about no of forums online ,

then you are trying to count no . of hair on your head (i hope you r not bald)

Check out http://www.big-boards.com/ for the most complete ranking of major boards and their sizes. They list 1,863 boards.

Digital Point is #257 with 4,403,861 posts but WHT is #256 with 4,414,520 posts. Come on lads! We can do better!

 

You will found lot of message boards on the Internet but only few has quality feedbacks. Like DP

But I am looking of starting a paid posting service, so I want to know how many forums there are in the industry so I can make some estimations.

forumrating, I'm looking to start a paid posting service... just want to know some information. For example, if there are many forums / forum owners I can advertise on General places... but if there are not too many, I would have to targert Webmaster and Forum Owners websites.

It's hard to find the # of message boards since they're growing every day don't forget small ones that people can create for free!

 

also those in social networks, its so easy to create a forum in orkut, took me about couple of minutes and im done. he seems to be targeting private forums though

 

That would make things easier but thousands of sites are being made daily

I'd be quite interested in finding out the figures too, not sure how accurate the source for this could be

 

i doubt if u can really get actual figures, lot of forums are such which are not even indexed, many of them are private only for registered users.

 

Maybe estimates? who has time to keep track of these though? Good point on the non indexed ones too!
