Number of indexed pages: Webmaster Tool or Google Search

    The regular google search and the webmaster tool show 2 different things for my site:

    Webmaster Tool
    Sitemap stats
    Total URLs: 886344
    Indexed URLs: 602483

    Google Search
    Results 1 - 10 of about 482,000

    Which one is more accurate?

    The funny thing is - today, the number in webmaster tools increased 50,000 while the other one went down 50,000.

    I would go for webmaster tools, it seems to be more reliable.
