Number 4 in Yahoo, but number 70+ in Google????

So I went up 3 spots in 5 hours! I am happy, my first major number one spot!

 

Probably this is a result of something you made before week or more.

 

That is how google operates, this is Yahoo.

i think yahoo put more stress on how many pages u have for that "keyword",
and the "keyword should be in those pages's url

 

Not really, they are just not very good. They rank my mirror sites higher than my main site, that is a diletante mistake that I would never suspect Google of making.

That being said, I am not happy about the .info domain people selling these domains for cents. I bought mine at a fair price ($7 per year) because I like the idea of having a domain that provides information. But they are selling their domains really cheap and spammers buy thousands of them. I think this is a really bad idea and if I was Google I wold be very careful about whom I allow I my index.

But Google really trusts my site because it is a good effort, it is the top site in its' niche. It gave a PR 2 in just 3 months, and I am very grateful to google. But I hate it that some spam sites rank higher than me at the moment. It makes it really hard for me. It 6 months I hope to be number one and then I will be promoting google in all my writings.

 

Keep in mind that your website ranks better in yahoo serps mainly because of text content, in google the main criteria is backlinks.

 

just because a site hasn't updated in a long time should not make a difference to google, some very very good relevant sites put out perfect information and there is no need to update, so they deserve the number one spot and shouldn't have to add stupid updates to keep the position

and on a different topic, I have had sites rank #1 in yahoo and 500th in google, so you can never really compare and expect the same out of different search engines

 

Tha's the thing: I have more than ten times more backlinks than my competitor. We have the same pagerank, he after 4 years, me after 3 months. I have more pages indexed. I get many times more traffic than he does. He only runs the site for the little ppc revenue he gets. I don't understand why google would penalize me like that. It's either domain age or or domain ending.

 

domain age is very important

after your site has proven itself for a couple of years it may be considered aged also

proven itself by being around for awhile

 

forum back links will definately help you and apart from that google loves quality backlinks from press release, blogs and social networking sites which give you good ranking, used your keywords in alll above

one thing about google, even though the site hasn't been updated in years, its longevity means MUCH more to google than PR, which is just about useless. I have a site witha PR2 that is #1 in Google, and it is beating sites with 10 times as many inbound links and have PRs of 6-8

I have over a dozen top 10 sites on Google, many more on msn and yahoo, I have been teaching SEO through seminars since 2000, so I have strong expertise in this area.

I suggest you first decide on whether you want to be listed in canadian search engines or US based....yes there is a difference.

then begin to do some REAL seo...I am not sure who gave you a SEO score of 91% but your site is missing some key things if you are going for the homepage to be ranked for "vancouver computer", also the way you have seo'd it comes off as spammy to the engines...(excessive keywords in menu links...google is pretty hip to that and knows that people don't use the keyword for all the menu items as that's silly and redundant to a human being)

if you buy a lot of links google can detect it however yahoo cant.

Forums links are definitely helpful. However I think I have found a sure way to get at least a PR2 guaranteed. This is great if you are starting out with a website and need to get it ranked quickly.

PR is very important for a number of things. In particular link exchanges and website sales. It's almost impossible to sell a website that has PR0. It also helps to get quality link exchanges and to rank highly in search engines.

Google redirects automatically to your country's homepage whereas yahoo doesn't. So chances are that most people use yahoo.com while on google they use the country page google.xxx

So if you are targeting a particular country it is best to rank high on google.xxx and yahoo.com.

 

thats just silly talk....do you even live in canada...most canucks go to yahoo.ca because they know it has more relevant listings

and all you ahve to do is go to www.sitepoint.com and www.ebay.com sites with ZERO PR sell every day, as much as 5 figures

only internet newbs think PR is worth somethign

traffic and income are preferred when it comes to owning or selling a site

if this is what you teach, i hope people don't pay.
