I haven't been following the Google board lately. But... just wanted to share my experience. I registered a domain name, installed WordPress, and 3 days letter was ranked number 1 for the keywords, as a .ORG! Did it for 6 more domains. Same results, and all .ORGs! This was late December. Two months later, still number 1 for all .ORG domains. However, my .com domains didn't fare as well. Interesting!
Like others have asked, how competitive are the keywords. It would be interesting to target the same keywords with a .com and a .org to compare. The only problem is for it to work, you would have to duplicate the content exactly...which is a no-no. Only if there was another way...
PioneerGold, 1. How much content did you put on the blog and was it original or not? 2. Also, did you rank well for the whole domain name or just for a part of it? 3. What's a monthly searche volume for the keyword(s) in question?
These are the domains affiliatebrowser.org (affiliate browser) couponbrowser.org (coupon browser) milfbrowser.org (milf browser) All are ranked #1 for the keyword phrase. I haven't developed them at all yet. They have held these positions since about day 3 of installing wordpress on them. Contrast that with makeyourownbrowser.com (make your own browser) I have been working on it regularly and yet it doesn't make the top 10! It has more keywords and more content. Go figure! Take a look. Maybe someone can explain to me why the .ORGs get immediate rank and my .com doesn't.
Hmmmm, don't mean to rain on your parade, but just about anyone can be ranked number 1 on a non-competitive keyword. Your post would have much more meaning if you told us the keyword you were ranked #1 on. I'm ranked #1 on several words as well, but if no one uses those keywords to search in google to find my site, what good does it do me or you if that is the case.
Grats on the number ones. But its easier to get number one when your keyword is in the URL. My site (screaming phoenix) is also number one
I am not really concerned about traffic at this point. My primary goal is being #1 for my domain name keywords (when searching for make your own browser, it's nice to know your website is first, which it is not currently ). In the past, Google has ranked websites above mine for keywords which were created from my content and software. This has persisted for years, costing me money and downloads. So, to see domains ranking this fast, and this high from only registering the name and installing WordPress (and without needing to send a ton of DMCAs to Google), is a great discovery. Building a brand becomes much easier without Google fighting me.
Some domain name to search engine very friendly, such as loan. com, and so on. An excellent key words domain
I don't think it's a very good primary goal to rank #1 for a keyword that nobody searches for. I could make my domain name asdfghjkl.com and rank #1 for asdfghjkl but what's the point? You still wouldn't get traffic from that ranking. Since nobody else is targeting that phrase you just don't have any competition and that ranking means nothing.
^^^^^^^^^^ You're missing the point. The example you gave is meaningless, in any language. When you can register a domain name... with dictionary words... that have meaning... and get #1 ranking in Google in 3 days... and keep it for months... that is meaningful, I think.
