I dont know if i am violating any rules here. but what is the most thing that jelsoft could do to me for using a nulled vbulletin copy and can they do anything to damage my forum or something.
That depends on how far they want to take it. But be advised that they actively seek people using their software illegally and do take action. Use a free alternative such as SMF or phpbb and avoid the hassle.
if u use offshore hosting aswell then i think they can do less to you as laws wouldnt apply in those countries the same as it would in say USA but why not just use phpBB - upgrade to Vb when u can afford it
phpbb sucks and s very hard to use mybb is much better and i use it however I couldnt think of anything they could do to me. I am in a third world country that is so retarded that they even give me free internet while i am not paying even though i told them i am getting it for free. so lawsuits wont be their best option however they may contact my webhost and force me to take it down
myBB is the easiest software that i have been using. I have used every forums so far, and in free category i found myBB the best. Comin to your actual question, i used vBulletin which was nulled for about 3 months, and the moment i started getting active members and nice money from adsense, a mail was sent directory to my webhosting company asking to terminate my account. Thanks to the courtesy of the web hosting company that they personally contacted me and asked me the backup the stuffs and remove vBulletin or buy it, otherwise i m sure my database would have been lost as well my domain and hosting account wud have been terminated. So moral of the story: Never used nulled vbulletin, unless your host isnt scared getting sued.
I prefer SMF. As you can see from any site I have linked to from here at any given time I use it on probably 15 differant forums I run One day I'll purchase a VB license, but, I prefer open source things. Why pay for something when you can get something that is just as good for free?
You have done enough to comfort yourself I guess. The rational behind this thread seemed to be you making a concerted effort to convince yourself that stealing is not wrong. We do not allow warez, no differences between first, second or third world.
