    Hi there,

Although I think I know the answer, I wanted to check with you if I'm right. ;)

What exactly do I need if I want to make my own nameservers (NS1.MYDOMAIN.COM and NS2.MYDOMAIN.COM)?

I have what you want since years
on dedicated ( root ) server its simple
just have bind in its newest version installed and configure your own NS - possible as master and then add 1 or 2 slaves on other servers / other IP nets and possible other geographical locations.

you have to KNOW NS stuff of course - then its all easy - but finally you have to test your NS to make sure all is correct and secure by all means possible.
