any one any idea why a site can be listed in the top of a google search one day and the next it doesn't appear at all (seems to have been delisted)
This is normal for a new site. Expect it has to do with the 56 data centers Google has. You get picked up on one before some of the others. Since Google does not always connect you to sama data center each time, you experience the "now you see me now you don't phenomena." Good luck, Shannon
I think this notion of being "delisted" is nonsense. I've seen several search terms fluctuate in the KW tracker. One day the term will be in the top ten, a few days later it 'disappears'. Then a few days or maybe even weeks later, it pops back up. It's not that it's being "delisted", it's just some kind of anomaly in the SE's algo that we don't understand. I've just learned to not be concerned. Because almost every time, the phrase will end up back where it was or in a lot instances, even higher. I wish I knew why G does this, but I don't. I have my suspicions, but that's all they are, my hypotheses. So in the end, just build a quality site with quality content and get as many IBL's as you can for all of your key words and your site, overall, will fair well.
Only new sites? I've been listed by Google for 10 months and I still see this happening to me as well.
I read it somewhere. Google has two kinda crawls. One is monthly crawl and other is fresh crawl. So I think when a site comes in fresh crawl, it appears in google pages, and disappears soon. For the permenant place, I think it needs to go under monthly crawl. I may be little vague here, but I am trying to put something which I read elsewhere on this forum.
I've got a site that ranks real well even though its been live for only 2 months...but then I've got another site that isn't even in the index even though its been crawled by google everyday.
The difference between Google Datacenters can be enormous!!! This is the results this morning for one of my keyword phrases on all of the different Google Datacenters. Datacenter Quick Check results This is the main index page for a site that has been up for more than 4 years now. No major changes have taken place and no major changes in linking either in or out to the main page. It is important to understand that when you go to www.google.com you are routed to any one of those currently active datacenters. It is also important to understand that some online tools only search the first hundred or so results. If your site is deeper than that, it will appear to be gone. (i.e. Shawn's Keyword tracker by default searches the first 100 but can be set to search the first 200 results - anything after that is reported as -9999) The Datacenter Quick Check tool will search the entire 1000 results for your site if you want to just see where you stand on each of the active datacenters. Also, you may want to bookmark that tool as it will check all of the datacenters for Backlinks and PR and is esp handy for checking for Google Updates. (an update should become very soon now!)
