Access to this site has been suspended in accordance with decision no: 2007/195 of T.C. Fatih 2.Civil Court of First Instance.

Oh , damn. What's their problem

This is sad. Where was the opposition to this 'decision'? Was there any?

Time to start up a Turkish proxy site.

Do they not enjoy the blogosphere? Was it something someone wrote that caused the ban?

Hey, other countries do it, too. PRC is famous. The web is what you make it and what the guys with guns allow.

Did you (or anyone) do anything in opposition to this decision?

sure , we are putting banners on our websites.
But it doesn't work in Turkey , they just suspend all sites they want.

I don't think your government is even aware what banners are.

Time for the Turkish nerds to kick up a stink :) Can't you guys hack the government?

So what if you run a successful WP blog? You just forget about it and move on?

No, i think only wordpress.com and it's subdomains ( free blogs) are illegal , you can use your blog like before .

That's what I meant - if you run a blabla.wordpress.com blog you're straight outta luck? Even if you just run a personal site, the government shouldn't be allowed to make it 'illegal'. :(

But then I guess restricting personal opinion is the whole point.

This ruling effectively means they will never join the EU.

The EU is very strict on matters of free speech and the constitution.
