What's Google exact definition of link sale. What if you create your own adsense in your web site - can this be considered as some sort of link sale?

If you state that the link will increase page rank i think google goes after those sites. You can sell links on site and some sites sell links with no follow just for traffic.

So what about sites like reviewme.com? You're not paying for a link per se, but you're paying for a review. Is this a violation of Google's quality guidelines?

This only talks about how inbound links impact your sites, and not about google's rules on selling links. My big question is, how will google even know that you're actually selling space on your site? Because you can do this in private completely with a link buyer without using services such as
    text-link-ads etc.

I don't think anyone except a small team at Google can specifically answer your question. But 20 years ago I would have thought it would be impossible to catalogue the internet, and Google has managed to do a better than decent job at that. So have other search engines. I think they'll become able to figure this one out with 90+ % certainty.

How do the police know whether a death is a suicide or a murder, or simple natural causes? It's not always obvious, although sometimes it is. But some investigation usually leads to the right answer.
