Ok, I've seen the numbers for my site go here and there as far as BLs and Pages indexed. The PR is still a solid zero, but the site just isn't old enough for anything else. Yesterday the prevailing numbers where 84 BLs, and 333 indexed pages. About 20 mins ago McDars tool reported zeros for everything in all DCs! I thought it might be a problem with the tool so I ran it again. Now 2 DCs are reporting 84 BLs and 333 pages. Is it possible the DCs were actually reporting zero? Or could ALL the DCs have been gone for a period of time?
Your only choices are more marketing and maybe do more link exchanges with sites with higher PR. Keep tweaking your META tags, keywords on your pages and improving your content. You gotta be patient in this game.
What? This isn't a problem with my site. I've worked hard to get it where it is and continue to make improvements. The numbers are returning one DC at a time. It's slow, but they are coming back. What's funky is that they would just zero out like than, then come back one at a time over what looks like is going to be a period of several hours. I've seen them do some pretty strange stuff, but never anything like this.
I don't know, that could be it, or it could be any number of things. In fact, when I start thinking of all the things it could be it's pretty comical. 1. Half of all SEO conscious people on the planet think an update is due so they're all checking it all the time and G is just overloaded. 2. McDar's tool is so popular that G has limited it's access out of envy. 3. G is doing this on purpose just to mess with our heads. 4. It's actually accurate: These numbers are the result of an update that happened just last night. 5. An update is imminent and G just wants to make sure we're paying attention. 6. The world is coming to an end and G got the word early. 7. G has been secretly bought out by Microsoft and is in the process of going away for ever. 8. Microsoft has secretly been bought out by G who decided MSN search is better so now they're going with that. 9. The guys at the G datacenters are all drunk and just not paying attention to anything important. 10. The numbers actually look pretty good, but we're all so drunk we can't see straight and everything blurs into zeros. Like I said, it could be any number of things. Or, it could be all of them!
I wouldn't worry too much about isolated readings like that. I'm always getting readings with the keyword tracker that suggests that my site has dropped out of the index completely. The next day it's back again as if nothing happened. If you we still getting these readings next week then that would be the time to worry.
Yeah. Actually, I think it is the tool itself that's the problem, If I go do a site: or link: at G I get numbers back that are in line with what I was seeing yesterday. I hope they get it fixed over there though, that's a pretty handy tool.
Right now McDar is working fine for me. Yesterday it showed some time-outs and zeroes possibly as a result. Some other tools are still showing zeroes or blanks at the moment. So it looks like it's not just the (one) tool. Guess it's just busy because of PR-o-mania.
