Clinton and Warren Christopher screwed that up in the same way that military operations always get screwed up when civilians put political niceties into play instead of letting commanders do what is necessary.

For the sake of appearances (they didnt want to seem antagonistic) they refused to let the ranger and Delta teams have the heavy duty hardware needed to do the job... Blackhawks were doing the job normally allocated to AC130 Spectre gunships... Humvees were doing jobs where they needed tanks and armored personnel carriers, etc. Impossible isnt the operative phrase... you just gotta let the guys that know how to do the job do the job and not insert political correctness into it.

It looks like they are going long on commodities.

 

I don't know if people are not thinking same as me, but this pirates problems are not a big issue to be discussed about....The solution those companies need to hired mercenaries to put on board..When pirates start dying big numbers you will the results...I can't believed people are debating to solved this problems.

 

Actually no country apart from India is engaging these pirates. I think its time US responded to these,

Why should India do this job alone?? and take all the blame when its a global problem??

On the one hand I absolutely agree... every country with a boat in the water oughta be engaging these punks. I do have to stifle a bit of a grin to hear someone from another country saying that... we've been there many times, but that said, I still agree we should be doing the same thing. Congrats to India for stepping up to the plate and setting the example.

 

The ocean around Somalia covers 2.5 million sq miles. We need to send out McCale's Navy with cheap PT boats that can work close in on the pirate bases.

The constitution of any civilized country says to protect its citizens. I guess, if you were among of 100-200 people that are nearly dying now in hands of pirates, you would think otherwise.

If there was a terror attack with the same number of hostages in lets say some hotel (like it was in Mumbai) then you would discuss it, right? Where is the logic?

hmmm....the Chinese are very peaceful. I suppose if they take on the pirates and capture some of them they'll probably just sit those nasty pirates down to some tea and moral discussions. Its the first time the Chinese navy will have moved from the Pacific.
