So I was checking to rent a convertible in Miami for next week on various sites, including budget. I guess they gave me a cookie with my search history. Now almost anywhere I go I get budget.com ads like this:

When I click the ad I gat really good deal on convertible, much better then what I got when checking in the morning.

Now that is one smart way of advertising and of course I'll sign up for that great offer!!

Added: seems they are using dotomi.com to advertise. Never heard of them before. And of course, going to dotomi.com there was the budget ad again :)

Its a simple "color" cookie that was planted on your PC, when you entered "Budget" site you got a cookie from the advertising network. Now, when ever you enter a website that works with this specific network they know that your looking for a car to hire. as simple as that...

Your cookie settings are wrong. Us IE's whitelist and you won't have the problem. FF and Safari have Wl's too.
