after using WPThemeBuilder it is now possible and very easily to generate CMS themes with custom control panels embedded into wordpress admin area.. No need to worry about coding.. Wordpress can be more powerful than drupal and joomla
Wordpress is just a blog, yes it's a little more flexible than other blogging platforms but it can not be compared with a full fledged CMS like drupal. Can you support your statement by some real life examples/proofs.
the effectiveness of WP as a CMS roots from how the developers (not of wp but people using WP as a CMS) use it. Same goes for drupal and joomla. Give them to noobs and you'll get one whacked project.
Did you check www.wpthemebuilder.com and few sample videos? Wordpress can be used for any type of CMS.. look around man billions of developers are working on plugins, themes and they are there for support on wordpress.org , WPthemebuilder is not just a formatting tool, it have many droppable widgets with custom admin control panels installed with your themes.. and it does also have a unique home page feature.. a lot more things to check out... I am not going against joomla or drupal.. .but these are not as easy as they looks like for newbies.. but wordpress is easy and flexible
Wordpress can not be as joomla, but many ppl are using wp as CMS using plugins and if u r wp developer then u will no longer relay on plugins. You will code.
well, as a good doctor can change a girl to boy (or the opposite ) a good programmer can make a great cms from wordpress... it can happen... but still, for users who can't code, wordpress is just a blog, nothing more (maybe a very unstable and bad looking cms, if you using lot of plugins)
Wordpress is great but Drupal is also a very nice software. It all depends what are you looking for. I am using wordpress for broadKast.me and it works so great that people just love it. My opinion - Wordpress and Drupal both rocks
To me at least wordpress has matured to be a lot more than a blog. It is a fast framework, that is use principarly to blog or make blogs, but if you know your way with PHP, MySQL you can build whatever you want. My wife has a hobby that has recently turned into a profit activity. I told her if I built her a virtual store, she could manage her sales easier and get a bit more income. She has a blog so she is not a stranger to Wordpress. We had recently upgraded her blog and mine to v2.8.1 of Wordpress. After looking a bunch of "stores" and online commerce solutions I found this plugin that did exactly what we wanted, within the environment we knew around. The plugin is called WP e-commerce (http://www.instinct.co.nz/e-commerce/) it's free and you can setup a store in under 5 minutes. It took us maybe a week to make a nice design, slice it and prep it as a theme, and configure the store with all the payment options, SEO and products. My wife then sent an email to all her clients and in a matter of days they were making orders for her products. So that is a small example of how you can use wordpress to do whatever you want, without wasting time to code or build something yourself. Hope this helps anyone pondering how to do something. Shoot me a PM if you need some help. Badr
Wordpress is very flexible and easy for any users to pick up regardless of coding skills. Plus it has a community building plugin for anything and everything. That's why it is widely used.
If you do not want to program PHP MySQL and CSS, you can use pluggins and do a lot with wordpress but if you do program a little you really can do what you want with it. Personnaly I do not always like the way it is programmed but it is because I am intolerant in my idea of readability of the programs which might be of another age and suitable for algorithmic development and not for PHP programming. I am overall very happy with wordpress.
