hey guys, with the recent pagerank update, i noticed that one of the pages on one of my sites is now a pr 6, with the rest of the site being pr5. what is interesting though is the fact that the pr6 page only has 1 backlink, and that is from the homepage of the site (which is pr5). i'm 99.9% positive that no other sites link to that page, and the actual site itself has only a few external backlinks that point to it. i'm just curious how 1 page received a pr6 from only 1 link (from an internal pr5 page). the page in queston is this one. thanks
i dunno bout that, but where can u get car fur from? hehe j/p, but u may want to change that typo, unless that's y u r getting a pr6?
Maybe people were like "How the hell did this page get PR1? <link>", then "How the hell did this page get PR2? <link>", then "How the hell did this page get PR3? <link>", then "How the hell did this page get PR4? <link>", then "How the hell did this page get PR5? <link>", now 6... and he's accumulated links over people like you questioning him.
If what you say is true, then I'd sure like to take a closer look..... We'll have to wait until the PR settles a bit to really look into it...
a friend pointed that out to me a while ago, but i thought it was a funny typo so left it that's the thing, sure pr means very little to actual results for a site, but i find it very strange. firstly the site itself has had very little promotion, so there are very few links pointing to it. what i'm curious about is how a page with one incoming link (and an internal one at that) has a higher pr then the rest of the site. what i'm curious about; is the sitewide navigation (home/contact/about us) being given a lot less weight than a single link? are links within content given more weight? funny mistake i made was i gave the page an extension (.php) whereas the other pages have no extension. as ridiculous as it sounds, could having a clearcut filetype by the means of an extension give a page more weight? or is it just a glitch in the gootrix? these are questions i would have dismissed as ridiculous before, but now i'm just curious
Google backlinks shows only 5 but in yahoo & msn shows more. MSN Backlinks Yahoo Backlinks Does google shows all inbound links?
I have seen similar results this update and I had the same suspicions. Wait until it settles I guess.
High PR: lots of links from High PR sites. High rankings: Good relevant content + lots of good relevant links to your site from relevant sites.
Can you explain this in more detail: High rankings: Good relevant content + lots of good relevant links to your site from relevant sites. What is considered good relevant content?
Take a read through the forums, each area has alot of specific information. As an example. if you want to rank high for web design, ideally you would have lots of links from web design sites (pref ranking well for terms like 'web design') etc..
I have the same, one of my sites went from PR1 to PR2 for the hompage, that has a lot of links, also a few PR7 text links pointing to the homepage. Several of the internal pages got PR4 and PR5, and those internal pages does not have any other links pointing towards them other than the ones on my homepage. So i got a PR2 for all the work i had by building links, and I got several PR4 and PR5 for free.... ( I have not build one single link to the internalpages, only links to the homepage.) I think that is really strange.....
No, as I said there are hundreds.. checkout the link building forum here, read as many threads as you can for a few days and you'll get a much better Idea, then you will know what questions to ask too. Linnks dont have to be from relevant sites at all. for example you can use the digital point coop, the link is in my sig or here if you dont want to use my referral id http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/ad-network/ You can also submit to directories. write articles etc.. as I said read up, then ask around..
http://co-op-faq.blogspot.com/2005/03/welcome-to-your-new-best-friend-d.html you can read about it here, the links to the coop on there are referral ids too.
