This isnt a current program (wasn't even announced when you made your post) so the advice at the time was correct.

It will however open up a whole new can of worms when it rolls out.

yfs1 - will it ever open up a can of worms.
On some of my sites, I count for about 15% of all page impressions. I sure hope G doesn't ban me for too many impressions.

You aren't getting paid for impressions at this point so I wouldn't worry about a ban

Looking to the future though :)
It'll be interesting to see exactly how it will work in practise - from what I've read advertisers will be able to pay per 1000 impressions (or something like that). It would mean that we get paid even for the people who come to our sites by accident and find nothing of use.

I wouldnt mind such a feature at all ... The disadvantage of the new Adsense system from what i have read would be that a advertiser could decline you as a publisher. ;)

I suspect they will set up a way to block the impressions (or not count them) for your own IPs as otherwise I don't see it working. Of course that brings up the question of why they don't do that currently.

Maybe because it takes intent to click on the ads while its perfectly reasonable to go to your own site 100 times a day.

I also imagine there will be a ton more info before it actually is put in place.

I would not like to get paid for impressions, because it would become obvious for google to suspect for impressions, if I am making updates on my websites.

I would think they would be taking that into account as everyone would be doing the same thing.

The problem I see is that many people are on dynamic IP's - what's G going to do, discard every hit from that entire IP block ?
As to publishers denying ads to sites, as I read it they'll be able to specify certain sites where they want the ads to appear - that would be pretty good as far as advertisers go, and would/should lead to well targetted ads. Of course, it means that you'd have to be high up in the SERPs for them to want ads on your site. One more incentive for good SERPs :)

good grief. worrying about page impressions prior to a program rolling out would have just been stupid.

anyway, i'm sure google will do something to account for webmasters IP addresses. The paranoia factor will go up however, quite a bit I would think. Either way, a lot more information is needed. For example, are they going to disallow the use of traffic programs? It would also be nice if the adsense publisher had a say if they wanted a pay per impression or pay per click model, but as of now it doesn't look like they will.

yea. just open your page a few million times a day... How is google gonna ban us ? easy ?

They've got to come up with something good here.

Otherwise, some wise crack could do the same and get your site banned !

ip address and cookie. If you refresh the screen 2000 times, you will only get paid for the first 10 or so refreshes. The rest would probably be invalid.

this is most intriguing, how they figure this out will be interesting.
Perhaps the CPM will be so low...who's going to bother clicking 1000 pages of their own site..for 3c ?.............but then who's going to give up the space on their site if the CPM is not worth it.....

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm....the plot will thicken....and someone will launch the scam in no time.

its all too much ...i'm gonna need a lie down

Maybe google will set a maximum impression per ip per hour or something like that.

This would limit the payment to let say 5 impression even with 1,000,000 page view from the same ip in that period.
