I am very novice at web design and looking to start an ecommerce site for my business , I want something simple , yet presentable , that I can do myself.

Please help me ? Where do I start ? What should I use ? And how can I get this done myself ? ( I'm a fast learner )

You would want to start with a very strong platform that provides a good quantity of nice templates.

If you are able to spend a little money monthly, I would recommend BigCommerce as they have very nice templates and this is the easiest platform to modify.

The other options would be Prestashop and Magento, if you have your own hosting.

you don't need to start from scratch...

there are already hosted e-commerce platforms which you can use ...BigCommerce, Volution, Shopify

check them out, i used BigCommerce myself...
take a look at this write up: http://wdstandards.com/why-i-chose-bigcommerce-over-volusion-and-shopify/

hope you find what ur looking for

i'd be more than happy to point to the right direction.

    cheers

i think the best way to start your online business is to use Zencart which have a good and easy admin panel... the other scripts seems good also but Zencart is very easy and there is a lot of free themes and templates design that you can choose from!

    Goodluck

    Wow, thanks guys

So, I am using Bluehost. For products that you all mentioned, what am I looking at in terms of pricing? and what would I need to do to get this started?

OpenCart is my preferred choice for a standard web store, although a large store may be better off with Magento but it's no where near as simple as OpenCart to setup/configure.

Thanks, What would everyone say is the most simple, yet affordable payment extension to use?

(Of course we are looking to have, Mastercard, Visa etc)
