This is a notice to affiliates promoting XBOX 360 guides whos sales might have slumped over the past week or so. Microsoft decided finally after 3 years to cover the E74 error by the three year extended warranty as oppose to the $149 or so customers used to have to pay to get there XBOX 360 fixed with the E74 error. The E74 error is the most common XBOX 360 error after the red ring of death, it is search 22K times a month on Google compared to 74k for the term "rrod". Usually when someone winds up with a broken XBOX 360, they'll contact Microsoft customer support especially with the E74 considering a big ass message saying "System Error. Please Contact Customer Support" appears on screen. Now when you ring up XBOX customer support you listen to some american recorded voice telling you about the E74 error and how it is now covered by the three year extended warranty. This has been in effect since April 14, 2009. Just a friendly notice and perhaps answer to why your sales may have slumped, I know mine did :O.
Well I haven't really noticed a change that much to be honest. I mean I might be biast being the owner of http://www.threeredlightsfix.com but although they are covering the E74 error for 3 years, they have been covering the main error which is the 3 red lights fix for 3 years since I think June 2008. So what I am saying is most people have always had the option to send the Xbox 360 back for repair and get it fixed for free in most cases. The guide is still selling well as the reason people buy the guide is so they don't have to wait for a coouple of weeks. edirectory, let me know how you are promoting and maybe I can help? There are still some easy ways to make money with this niche if you want the help I am here. All the best Chris
I did have a slight dip in sales, but it won't last for long. This year is the 4th anniversary for the XBOX 360 - so the warranties will be expiring like crazy this year. And the first ones were the worst w/ the 3redlight errors. This will start converting again like crazy, until they announce the next console release.
