my site has been in there a month and a half or so and still only on front page or 2nd page but not moving up any higher on page...seems to have stopped..i am still building backlinks on youtube, twitter, lots of forums and some blogs. i got link exchanges with PR sites up to 4 and 5. what else do i do to get unstuck? oh and google is barely looking at my sitemap, only index 2 out of 5000 links on it.

Don't underestimate your competition. There is no magic formula
for moving up. There are sites that google loves and will never replace
the top billing. Best you can do is keep on keeping on, and hope for
the best. People forget that there just may be 10 sites better than
theirs. And that may never change.

That isn't the case. Google don't care who are on top. They want the most relevant site at the top.

However I know what you're meaning ... if you're trying to outrank the financial times website for the phrase 'financial times' then you'll never be able to do that simply because of their relevancy to the phrase and the number of backlinks.

Well, here is why I know we have "the right stuff." Our site now is a exact clone of our old site. We were remote hosted, and then we moved to self host with a domain and all {domain made only of our 3 best keywords!} and the content it exactly the same, it is a forum, well except for the new content that has since been added to the forum, but essentially it is the exact same site, just even better. And before on the old site, we had the top spot. So we had it once.
