The past week or so I decided I would try to buy/sell domains for a profit. There is one thing I want to make clear to all new domainers. Automated appraisals (such as estibot, domaintops, etc..) are not an accurate appraisal all the time! Never buy a domain based on what an automated appraisal says. I found myself thinking of what I thought was a good domain name, then before buying it I would use estibot to make sure it was more than what it would cost for me to register that domain. Over the past week or so I have wasted 50 dollars buying domains on what a bot told me the name was worth. Just thought Id share my mistake with everyone.
Hey.. sorry you had to learn the hard way.. Definitely use discretion if you are basing a purchase or sale based on a free appraisal from an online site. The best and most accurate way is definitely paying for a professional to appraise your domain. Best of luck in the future. Its all a learning experience.
Good advice for the members starting in this kind of business. Also... sometimes i feel that some appraisals made by DP members are also... how can i say?... very inaccurate! That's it! But it's only my opinion!
Very good advice, for the newbies and sorry you had to waste money to learn but at least you did learn. Its very impressive that you agree to share this with everyone. rep added Now about estibot, while is give u an idea on a domain there is no way it can be used when buying domains. It can value good domains well such as one word domains generally but who cannot do that anyway.
Yeah dnScoop says my site is only worth $1g but with all the content is on it, i got offered 4k for it. So autmatic sites like that arent accurate.
