Take a few moments to review the information below and make sure that you are taking advantage of everything which is new with AdSense. If you have any comments after reading our updates, we hope that you will send us an email to share them with us. Your comments are precisely what we need to improve the features and services that we offer through AdSense in the future. Yours sincerely, The Google AdSense Team Referrals - both new and improved Google AdWords referrals We have added Google AdWords to the growing list of products which you can refer to your users using the AdSense referrals feature. Add an AdWords referral button to your site and inform your users about the value of advertising on Google and our network of partner sites. You will earn $20 when an advertiser you refer spends $100 on advertising within 90 days. AdWords referrals are available by visiting the AdSense Setup tab and choosing Referrals as the product. New year, new look All-purpose location for code creation Creating and customising your AdSense ad code is now simpler than ever with the new AdSense Setup tab. Pick a product and we will guide you through the process of generating the ad code with the format, colours and channel of your choice, along with any other specifications you would like. By consolidating your AdSense for content, AdSense for search and Referrals tabs into just one AdSense Setup tab, you can enjoy the streamlined ad setup and discover new features all in one place. AdSense for search box redesign Design a search box that fits your site using the new AdSense for search formats. We now provide greater customisation and flexibility in size, colour and logo placement. Get creative with your search box by visiting the AdSense Setup tab and choosing AdSense for search as the product. Greater reporting detail Separate reporting by ad targeting type If you have wondered whether advertisers were choosing to target their ads to your specific site, this new reporting feature is great news for you. We have updated our reports to provide separate details for site-targeted and contextually targeted ads. To see what types of ads are showing on your site, visit your Advanced Reports page. From there, choose AdSense for content as the product, show data by 'Individual Ad Unit' and click the checkbox marked Show data by targeting type - contextual or site. When you generate your report, you will see a new column for Targeting Type. Keep in mind that the eCPM for site-targeted ads may be lower in your reports. This likely occurs when site-targeted ads beat out contextually targeted ads in the auction to display on a subset of your pages. Referral advanced reports We have added referrals to your Advanced Reports page to allow you to view a wider date range for your referral statistics. Educate yourself Good news for channel beginners The AdSense Help Centre is now host to a new channel guide that will be especially helpful for those of you who are unfamiliar with the enhanced tracking abilities provided with channels, as well as those looking for more tips on better using them. Optimising with Channels highlights the differences between URL channels and custom channels, walks you step-by-step through the process of creating channels and provides tips and examples for using each type of channel. It offers the assistance you need to start optimising your site today. Make your content crawler-friendly with Google Sitemaps Ensuring that all your web pages are crawled so users can discover more of your content is a common challenge for web publishers - especially when your content changes regularly. But, with Google Sitemaps, it is easy to submit all your URLs to the Google index (for free!) and tell us when each page was last modified, how frequently it changes and automatically tell us when you have created new pages that you want us to crawl. You will also get detailed reports, including your crawl status and robots.txt analysis that can help make your pages more crawler-friendly and more visible on Google. The adwords referral is hard to achieve, having someone spend 100$ in the first 90 days will not be common, if when you have the chance, you'll get 20 dollars.. And its a pity that the "Advertize on this site" feature on the adsense blocks is not linked to adwords referals. I much prefer the new deal with referring people to adsense: 6 months for the newbies to make 100$ and if they do you get 100$, much more fair. But then you have to put in your site filter "google.com/adsense" not to have unfair competition
I don't think 90 days to spend $100 is that tough for a new adwords customer, depending of course on the competitiveness of the industry and the keywords chosen. Can I be the first to ask this question we are likely to hear again and again? "Anybody gotten any adwords referrals yet?"
I have the search box on my main site and it's making money for me already. I might have a sneak at the referrals idea next. I'll let you know my thoughts on it later.
Did anyone else's heart skip a beat or two at this vaguely titled email? I rigidly abide by the ToS, but the horror stories have me remarkably paranoid. "Note from the Google AdSense Team" leaves just enough doubt.. something like "Google AdSense Newsletter" would have been nice.
I did groan when I saw the "note". I wonder if they get a chuckle out of knowing people are so paranoid about being banned?
