I know ... not another one !!!! What I found was one of the sites would not validate to the root, whereas another would with the same format. All the advice was to put in place the absolute pathway etc - which I did [and tried in many different ways]. Now the extraordinary thing was that it worked [validated] on one site, but not another so I thought that it was either the server or the page. So I changed the url to point at an internal php "engine" [which reduced the weighting as it wasn't to the whole site, but no matter] and the bloody thing worked. I then placed the same page that worked, on the same server, onto the domain that wouldn't work and.....it wouldn't work!!! I then returned the original home page and placed it as www domain.com/index.php [as against www domain.com] in the setup and at last it worked. Unfortunately my weighting is now = 0!!! So I have worked out the solution to the problem but not the answer I think it may be over to you Shawn Bless you
It looks like it's validated okay... you have a low weight because with index.php in the URL, it's only going to include that one page within the network.
Yep, I know that - but the site is larger than just one page, and that is the point, this site is 280 odd in G at the moment and I am changing it to be totally php with directories etc being a much larger content - what would be the point with just 1 page?
The network is not going to pick up the rest of the pages if you specify the index.php within the base URL.
That's my point It will not validate "normally" with the domain name I need to place the /index.php to allow the validation. Hence instead of the whole site I get just one page yet that is the same entry point. Perhaps it needs an If/else in the validation query string so that if it picks up www domain.com/index.php it will validate and truncate the /index.php for the purposes of the size of site for the weighting valuation. Otherwise I cannot get a validation using the domain name or, I cannot get a weighting using the index page.
Well, if you change it to be without index.php, I could take a look at it for you and tell you why it does not validate.
Thanks Shawn I have changed it to the world-ok.com PS A thought occurred to me on the way around a natural farm visit this afternoon that it could be because of the specified IP address. So I tried the IP address and it validated! But again no weighting To recap: world-ok.com Does not validate - Weighting in the 1000s world-ok.com/index.php Validates - Weighting 0 66.195.126.252 Validates - Weighting 0 Thanks again
It looks like it's failing on the spot check... for example, no ads on: http://www.world-ok.com/hotel-world/hotel-world-enquiry.htm
Gotcha....that makes sense....and explains why the internal "open realty 'module'" will validate on the ski site as some of the "greater" site pages do not have, as yet, the php footers. Perhaps, if this random check for non conformity was put as a explanation in the FAQs that might assist with some of the non validation issues with people. Will sort out the site!!!! Didn't think of that one!!! Hehe good one Shawn. Its logical and cool and will make me move my arse
Oh well....ignorance is a fine thing,......sometimes The ski site now validates from the domain name!!!! And, of course, its weighting is miles better! Reflecting the size of site. I am going to write out a hundred times "I must work harder" hehe
