Not trying to be inflammatory, but why are there so many Indians doing SEO?

It's just a trend I have noticed with SEO, there are many guys coming out of India into the field...

    Why is that?

Because at low levels it requires very little capital spent to produce results, and it's easy to get a lot of business.

Well, India is a rising star so to speak in computer science and is growing larger every day regarding computer related stuff and webdesign/maintenance is also a part of it;)

A lot of work is being outsourced to India nowadays.

Oh and that - Everyone out there has a degree and knows what they are doing with computers.

Also the average wage for a grad is £1,000 p/a (Or something like that) so getting one 'big' job for SEO could pay for you to live for a couple of years.

I'd also like to know why so many join here lately, behave badly, get banned, and then do it all over again.

I actually had this curiousity a while back, but I think the key answers have been given above. It is one of the largest countries in the world, they are technologically advanced, and it is a good way to make some money.

As for the behavior and banning thing, I think a lot of them are young, just like a lot of the americans are young who come here and get into trouble.

Do you know any recent trouble making young americans that got bannd that you can provide a link to? I haven't seen this happen and if it does it must be the forums I don't frequent as much.

Just as in software developing, India is a very nice place for companies to invest in work force.

Just because outsourcing is so well implemented ... SEO is the other part where low prices get the best benefits for companies.

India, Romania, etc. usually countries where workforce is cheaper than USA, UK, Italy etc. :)

The exchange rates are the key.
    One Dollar = 43 Indian Rupees ..
SO USD $1000 = INR 43,000 per month which is really good keeping cost of living index in mind. :) This is a above average salary in Indian IT market (just for comparison, one luxury car will cost you about INR 600,000 :D ).

Most probable reason that I can think of is language problem. Most of them have very little exposure to english... even the professors of most professional colleges can't speak two sentences in english without making a gramatical mistake.

I see it everyday. BTW I am from India (living in Jaipur currently) too.

My theory would be that most of them are :

    1. Either trying to prove that yes they also are par standard most people here (in context of skills and language). And, while doing so, stepping over the line.

    2. Or, come up with a scam (which has been tried online zillions of time but new to them) and try it here. Yeah, I see it happening it everyday.

However, this is not an India specific situation but with people from other countries too like China, Pakistan, Indonasia, Saudi Arabia etc. But with the numbers game, in both population and internet access context, Indians win. :p

Oh don't worry about that. With the colleges that are springing up and the situation on ground, I really doubt that worries of shortage of skilled labour will arise.

However, yeah if the govt. really doesn't get its act straight with regard to infrastructure, it is going to be a trouble. Especially since India is having a huge power crisis (The Economist had a pretty good article about it).

    - They're more industrious then citizens of other countries?

    - Easy access to Western consumers (via affiliate and ad programs, easy remote work) then other types of work?

I think excellent education, good practice and they are satisfied for less in material meaning.

For a 40 years Brasil, China and India will be on top, by economic predictions. They have rapid progress, and computer/software technology is just part.

Read The World is Flat a brief history of the twenty first century by Thomas L. Friedman and you'll get it. You will also realize that we in the USA need to get off of our high horse and start innovating again.

Along those lines, I highly recommend checking out Dan Pink's books and writings. I heard him speak a couple months ago on an NPR lecture series program and I was glued to the radio (he's a very entertaining speaker, haven't gotten around to ordering his book yet).

Brief descriptions of his books taken from his website:
    The newest book:
