    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

Not sure where to put it!

My friend is starting a social networking/blogging site and he seems a bit flustered as to how to market it. He's done tons of projects before and now he seems at a bit of a loss.

'Word of Mouth' was his original plan, but he doesn't seem to happy about it and he's not sure where to go advertising for something like this since most of the social networking/blogging sites he knows of spread by word of mouth.

Any ideas? Should he try a more mainstream route?

The more ways you advertise your site the better.
    Some things you can do:
    -submit site to directories
-place link to site in signature of every forum you frequent
-sign up for some link exchange programs
-add your website to some webrings
-have your website optimized for search engines
-find local clubs thats are related to your website, and attend a meeting so you can advertise your site. (try http://www.metups.com
-if you have money, purchase some ad space or text links on other sites
-have the url of your website in your name on messengers (msn, aol, icq)
-print off couple ads and see if you can post them in the windows of local stores.
-If you are still a student post flyers in your school.
