Hi there, Over the last two weeks I have looked at possibly every directory script available. I have also gone through just about every forum hoping to find a thread or post that could possibly steer me in the right direction. Let me explain what I need the script / program to do: I am in the process of building a national business directory. Not the kind people link to in order to increase website rankings, the kind where business's list themselves and pay to do so. Along the lines of the yellow pages. It's a national business directory. I would like a user to be able to search on Region, choose a City, and then search for a company or service provider within that City / Area. Geomapping would be great as well as a radius search. I would like companies to be able to list themselves and choose which kind / level of listing they would like, silver, gold, platinum scenario. There must be advantages to paying for a higher listing i.e. larger description, logo etc. as well as appearing ahead of the lower paid listings. Companies need to list themselves. It would be great if listings within the same paid level could rotate/alternate each time a search was done so that you do not get the same alphabetically sorted / biased result every time. I would like to be able to sell banner positions as well as pay per click thumbnail advertising positions on each side of the searched result as well as to the top and bottom of it. I would like theses banner adds to appear on the main page as well as each main category page. I need the software to be able to do the above as well as managing payments, due renewals, PPC campaigns etc. I really like the look of www.bizpages.co.za but it does not half the functions I require it to have. Does a program exist that can do all of the above? If not what script would have the basic structure as outlined above performing the more important functions and allow me to purchase the balance of functions as an add-on. If add-on's for the above script is not available, a script that could perform the above with programming changes to the existing script. Not sure if I can mention it here but I am considering using, esyndicat, powerseak, phpyellow, phpmydirectory. Each one has functions I like but no one program does everything. I am a marketing person and have very little experience with building websites etc. hence the confusion and lack of understanding with regards which program would suit my purposes better. I would really appreciate any and all advice you guys could give me. Perhaps you could even suggest someone who could put the above together for me? Thank you in advance, Take care B
Well, there is no ready made script covering all your needs. You're looking for a directory script and an ad-script. It's doable, but needs some php programming work.
Have you tried looking for yellow pages type scripts instead of web directory scripts, because it appears thats what you are actually looking for. Could it be possible you are looking in the wrong area of scripts for what you want?
