OK guys, be gentle, I'm new to all of this. Basically, the story is, I've come up with (what I think) is a great idea and I've done the site etc... I'm just a bit lost with how to market this to users and clients. It's a 'nightlife' service for the UK. You put in your mobile number, postal code etc, fill in a profile of your likes dislikes. Then, when we get an offer from a venue (such as 'free wine with any meal') we match it against our lists of users and send them a text message. I'm getting about 10 hits and 1 signup per hour from google, but wanting any bright ideas you experts may have.... I can do system design and coding, but web design/marketing etc is all a bit new and scary! The site is: http://www.sleeplater.co.uk/ Regards, Brian
how about bombarding all the Lads and Lass mags with press releases. Also stick on a bit of adsense for some cash for you!!
Ask the businesses that provide you with offers to put a link on their sites to yours, something along the lines of: "get discounts from X business with sleeplater." You could also come up with some sort of handout or sign that you could make available at these venues. Market in the place where your audience is going to be. The people that are most likely to use your service are the ones already paying for the meals, drinks, etc. anyway.
I'd go with the mags option, we have plenty of lad mags here in the UK as you know and they have a large target audience. Good luck with it.
I really like the idea, and the site seems to market it pretty well. I especially like the little mobile phone in the left hand corner. Yeah, lads mags, FHM, Loaded, Maxim, Mens Health, Mens Fitness, Zoo and I'm sure there's plenty more. Not sure of the girls ones. I would maybe suggest a 'text your mate' thing on the site, where you either text (or appear less intrusive with email) the details supplied by users of your site. Maybe stick that in the control panel. Could also try dating websites and maybe come up with a cool viral advert idea which could be past around offices across the country Anyway, goodluck, I'm suprised you posted your site as it seems pretty niche, so long as there's not much competition, I'm sure it'll be huge.
