Not liking the Taboola Ads

Not sure to post here or "advertising forum"

The Taboola ads disrupts the sense of Digitalpoint's forum community.

Instead I propose Digitalpoint should hold workshops and charge for that instead
or a premium membership to users. (I would gladly pay $99/yeaR)

I'm really not liking the Taboola ads, and I feel this is a weak way to monetize

Indeed, the ads are in no way related to what DP is all about. 50% are pics with some chicks or some "10 awesome pictures I am dying to see". I am yet to see an ad even remotely related to "webmaster things" (which I thought this forum is about).

From an advertiser point of view , as I used to run many ads here on DP, makes no sense to pay anymore to get my banner next to 6 other ads promising me "how to get laid tonight".

Lol... an advertiser would never have their ad next to Taboola ads. Right now they are just used as filler ads (unsold slots).

Regardless, not sure they are going to stay... just a test right now.

This is actually a pretty good idea. All fallback ads are now removed for premium members (Taboola or anything else).

The ads don't bug me. As a website owner, I know that monetization is important for keeping the server paid for. This is especially difficult with a community based platform. Reddit is a great example of this. People hate the ads, yet forget that when you have tons of users it costs a lot of money to pay for the servers. Their solution was reddit gold, which unlocks extra features and removes intrusive ads, while still allowing non intrusive and relevant ads to display above the fold.
