Not indexed in Google by getting hits from them

one of my sites was heavily indexed i Google a few weeks back and then went completley, hoping just a sandbox rather than a band. if i type in the domain smithsguide.com (there are numerous sites running as sub domains but nothing on the root domain) i get about 400 results in google - none of which are my site. If i type in site:smithsguide.com there are no results.

Checking my awstats today i see that a couple of the subdomains have had hits from users finding the pages in Google today. How can this be when ive no pages indexed?

Edit: checking the stats in more detail im fairly sure the domain hasn't been banned because even though the site (it's only been live for 2 weeks) had about 5k pages indexed but now has none it is still getting hit from the Googlebot so all being well ill be back up soon

google has a lot of data centers but on your situation your site is indexed my some sites doing search engine spam (taking the searc results and using them.
You get hits from them , the data is originally googles data.I am not linking to them but you can see it by yourself when your domain is searched.
This can also be the cause of your banning , write to google and give their links maybe they move their ass a little bit to remove this kind of spam.

thanks for reply. I was under the impression though that you cannot get banned in Google if bad sites link to you. If this is the case then im spending the rest of the day pinging out my rivals urls....

It´s also my understanding that you can´t get penalised by getting bad links to your site, as you don´t control who is linking to you. A one way link can just be positive or neutral, but shouldn´t have any negative effect in your rankings.

Yes google says that but if you have done nothing wrong , the only reason we can see from here is this. ( did not checked your site if it was up for 2 weeks it may be some data center glitch and it will come back but if it is older this does not happen much)

if the site was banned Googlebot would stop crawling it wouldnt they? i have a couple of other sites this has happened to. They are new go into google very fast and very hard then two weeks later are not even in the ndexe anymore but are still being spidered. Not sure if its a sandbox thing but either way it is annoying. This site in question was getting about 1200 uniques a day within 10 days of launch

Site A cannot hurt site B......is your site new? takes a bit after the bot comes in for it to be indexed

the site is about 3 weeks old. I can generally get a brand new site indexed in a day or 2 at the most however after a couple of weeks of getting more and more pages indexed the site vanishes. Sandbox maybe?

It takes time for the data to propagate across all the data centers

Some actions can get you sandboxed although google says the opposite.
    Google is not perfect.

but on this issue the problem caused by the subdomains as far as I see.
