Not Getting Sign Ups for Free Website

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by snra786, Nov 17, 2007.

I started a new site similar to Digg.com / Reddit for photographers, and have been using myspace marketing and forum postings. I just started writing articles.

Any ideas on how to get more people to sign up consistently? I'm at a loss, any advice would be great!

Submit your website to link directories... and also try free classified posting.. this helps a lot in increasing traffic

    Hope it helps...

What do you mean by free classified posting? Like craigslist?

Advertise using Contextual Pay Per Click systems such as Adsung and Google Adwords.

You can also purchase links off related sites via Text Link Ads or TNX.net

As well as Article Marketing, Forum Posting, Google/Yahoo Groups and SEO.

    Not on craigslist

Other FREE classified websites are also available... but first try with link directories they need time to come in effect... and after you have completed with link directories just start your free classified...

I think you might want to broaden your marketing plans to include additional methods. As mentioned submitting to link directories will help, you might even consider something like Linkreferral where you can target your website to a specific audience.

If you are already posting to forums that is good, but how many are you using?
10 or more would be better than 2 or 3. Writing articles is another good way to get hits to your website over the long haul.

    Best of Luck!

I think you need to come up with an innovative marketing idea to get more and increasing traffic. Like you can have some contest on your site and give away something to the winner. You can get good backlinks by this. Talk to the top bloggers of your niche and request a link. Doing Pay-Per-Click might be another option, but only if your budget allows.

    I hope this helps.

I think you should submit your best individual image pages to social bookmarking sites, mainly stumble upon.. check the freebies section of DP or post there for stumble exchanges if you need a boost... I see a lot of picture pages when I'm doing random stumbling...

If you write an article, try to create some link bait, it will work 100 times better than a simple article. A good link bait for your site could be something to the effect of "Top 10 most beautiful pictures of beaches" or "Europe at Night". Submit these type of articles to Digg and the other top sites.

This site has a lot of potential, very nice idea, best of luck

Thanks for the tips everyone. I've suddenly gotten a huge boost of traffic from stumbleupon, about 200 hits a day for the last two days. The problem is they're not converting to users. I've started writing articles, especially articles about posting pictures online and started commenting on photography sites. I'm trying to get some reviews from authorities in the field, but since it's so new not many are interested, putting me in a catch 22.
