Not entirely web related but smart phone card readers?

Last year I made a movie about ghost hunting and this year I'm doing the same. I strictly took CC's online and cash at the door. This wasn't much of a problem but we had several people who came wanting to use their CC at the door and had to hit a local ATM.

I was wondering if anyone has a card reader (like the Paypal one) and what your experiences are with it?

    Thanks!

Card readers are generally very good machines. If you invest the money into it, it'll definitely be worth it for you and your business, no doubt about it. They don't cost as much as you think and they will help you increase your sales by a massive amount, if you use it correctly and take it with you whenever you plan to try and make sales.

Well I plan on doing a lot of events related to my hobby, the paranormal, and Paypal gives a card reader for free with a business account (which I have). Hoping it'll be worth it!

Oh, without a doubt, if you're getting it for free then go for it. They're good machines and work well, and hopefully, it will help you increase your sales and revenue by a fair amount and make it worthwhile for you to carry around. But, you certainly can't moan about it if you're getting it for free, so why not?! :)

You're right. and from what I've read it's actually a lot cheaper than most alternatives. One I looked at charged 30cents on the dollar plus like 2.5%. I think I read Paypal's was 5% or less with no up-front charge.

I don't think the fees have been entirely determined yet, but you're right, there's no upfront or monthly fees for the service which is a great thing. Just a small % charge on the total transaction amount, I guess, which isn't bad.
