Hi I have a fairly new blog which is getting a fair amount of traffic. Each day I am averaging around 160 ad impressions, and I started my site at the beginning of June. Its a real blog, with genuine good content, not just generated content so that people will just click ads. I get a lot of good traffic, despite the fact that my site is 61st in google, and 28th for another term. So the problem right now isn't getting traffic, as its slowly increasing as I post more, and its doing alright for now. The problem is that no ones clicking on ads even though they are very good ones and very targeted to my audience. Ive gotten 7 clicks in the last two weeks and have made $0.95 (with 1800 impressions). Am I doing something wrong? I feel like people are too interested in my blog and not the ads. I even have an ad unit between the post and comment section but that hasnt been effective either. Any help would be appreciated. The site is dietpreppy.com.

That's because your AdSense is only on your header area, try blending a Medium Rectangle (300 x 250) into your most recent postings. Also you may want to add a Skyscraper (120x600) under "Useful Links".

Btw "Useful Links" is a term that will get you banned from AdSense because it encourages clicks, you can put something like "Sponsors" instead.

the border and background of your ads should be the same as the site. so it your site has a white background, switch the border and background to #ffffff

Great thanks! Do you think this stuff will really help me get more clicks? Or should I change my whole approach? I'm obviously not trying to make a crapload of money or anything, but if I get a good following in the niche I'd like to make just like $5 a day. Would this be possible with a blog like this that doesn't do anything really to encourage readers to click ads?

It takes time. Don't encourage them to click, just build on content and get more traffic. Try blending your ads and getting links to your site. Just do a search for "link building" and follow the finds.

    Hope this helps

Ugh. Today I got 250 impressions 0 clicks, and $.01, after yesterday with 225 impressions and another 0 click day. Guess I just have to be patient...

You need more traffic mate. If you can post the link here, we can help you with the ad layout and the blending.
