Heya! My name's Hannah, and I'm a complete newbie to all this, "peon" as my account suggests! I'm not confident providing my home address as my work address online, any recommendations? Hannah
You can use an address in the USA where they can forward your mail via email and you can use them to forward parcels to you as well. That is when you buy something in the US. Of course only certain things. www.usamail1.com they charge a monthly fee though. Thats is if your target market are people in the US.
I'm currently in the US, but I would like to keep that hidden, as it's not my full time location. I've heard something about Virtual Offices, is that a good idea?
It can be hard to use your home address on any site. What I do is first check if the site is reliable and secure. If I have my doubts, I do not provide any contact information. Some sites do let you leave out contact information. It might be harder to do that with business related sites.
Hannah, Can you give us more information as to whom is asking for this information? I certainly would not suggest to add it onto your website or anything along those lines. Depending if you are referring to a contact record, or something along those lines... there might be something you can do.
Sorry, I think I'm just a little confused Basically, I am working from home at the moment and want to get the ball rolling with my business, and to contact me they want me to put my address in of where I am based on helping people with ordering and stuff. But I don't want to put my home address, or my UK home address, I just want somewhere that will actually be a landmark spot, and forward my mail?
No, it's just a locked box where you get your mail sent to, usually at a post office or sorting office, nothing unreliable about them as far as I know. You rent them and get a key to access them.
See now I was thinking of going with these guys http://www.msoworkspace.com/ because I had heard good things and it's like a physical location, but if a PO box does exactly the same and cheaper, I might as well do that!
Why do you need to show your home address? Just have a contact page and don't mention it. And, if you are embarrassed of showing your home address; then look out for co working space nearby. It's a place where small offices (two to 3 person) share common office space. That would be more suitable for you.
Hi, It is a difficult one, I work for myself and as i was advertising my business on Google business places, Directories and so on had to list my home address, I pay for a credit checking service to keep an eye on things and my points went down because of doing above! I hope one day to get some business premises to change all this, I guess it depends on what you do, Can you not rent some office space? All the best
I'm only just starting so can't really afford a whole office, plus it's only me so it would be a lot of empty space!
If you want to establish a trustful relation with your clients and your online business you should consider putting your address on your website.
I suggest getting a mailbox at something like the UPS store. You can also add a suite number to your home address. The mail would still get delivered and it would confuse anyone trying to hunt you down.
