Normally, my new blog posts are indexed in Google in a few minutes. However, recently I changed the permalink to the title of the blog post in the link and my new posts aren't getting indexed. The old blog posts that are listed in the search engines still have the default permalink that WordPress gives and hasn't yet updated. Any idea on what I should do?
301 Redirection - This is the most SEO Friendly redirection. This is actually a function of the web server that redirects a visitor from the current page to the new page and returns a response code that says that the original page has been Permanently moved to the new location. Search engines identify this redirection very easily and credit the new URL with all the back links and PageRank of the old URL. This type of redirection is expected to have the least impact on the search rankings There are many plugins available for wordpress for 301 redirect Since I didn't had a need so far so never used but you can find all the plugins directly from wordpress site itself wordpress.org I found one for 301 for you , copied below http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/redirection/ Feature of above plugin Existing features include: * Automatically add a 301 redirection when a post's URL changes * Manually add 301, 302, and 307 redirections for a WordPress post, or for any other file * Full regular expression support * Apache .htaccess is not required - works entirely inside WordPress * Strip or add www to all your WordPress pages * Redirect index.php, index.html, and index.htm access * Redirection statistics telling you how many times a redirection has occurred, when it last happened, who tried to do it, and where they found your URL * Fully localized I have marked in bold the feature you are looking out for Hope it helps Thanks Merlin
