I have a desktop with windows xp professional. I am not able to open any anti virus website -avast, mcafee, avg, Norton, kapersky, symantec and many more. I installed a avg antivirus -version 8.0...... and am not able to update it too. I don't have a firewall too. I scanned the computer and it was reported clean. Everything was fine with the pc except for this problem. I can access any other websites other than the antivirus websites and windows or microsoft sites n webpages. anyone help me.

Use CD antivirus (not installed antivirus) to scan your computer. The virus is hiding in System Restore and registry and you need to disable (and delete) System Restore and block access to registry manual.It is better to make the scan in Safe mode.
