I have this problem sometimes, and not sure what causes it. Try refreshing the widget page and/or expanding/collapsing another widget area. It is a weird problem for sure. What browser are you using?

Did you try collapsing the sidebar box, then expanding it again? Sometimes this works for me. Did you try refreshing the page also?

Are you running any javascript blockers? This would cause this problem for sure.

I was just asking. I use the NoScript extension for Firefox and if it is not set to allow the domain to use javascript then the menus will not work, or any other scripts running on the page. Pretty good for cruising the net safely, without seeing a lot of Flash, ads, etc. Downside is the sites tend to look like crap most of the time, but what the hey! ;)

Try this. Click on "Screen Options" in the upper right hand corner of the Widgets page. Check to make sure that Disability Mode is disabled.

Curious one, that! Okay. Hmmm. You are running the latest version of WordPress? What plugins are you using? Specifically, do you have any plugins installed that has to do with modifying widgets?

The define line probably goes in wp-config.php, but not positive. I am not sure what that define does.
