not a single outgoing or incoming link and my site is indexed by google, odd?

I have my site for some while hosted on my server (1 month+) and never had a single outgoing or incoming link to this domain and when i gave it a try to see if my site was being indexed by typing www.mydomain.com i noticed it was listed with this domain and before it didn't give any results.

Could this be because of the other sites that share the same ip on the same server?

What could be the cause for this?, because i always thought if i haven't got a outgoing or incoming link my site couldn't be found by the search engines:confused:

Only a guess but possibly google is looking at domains that are registered to see what if anything is on them?

So G might have crossed some index or database with registered domains and crossreferenced them maybe with servers owned by the domain registrar to crawl them and eventually index them?

Yeah, or possibly google came accross a page that lists registered domains, domains about to expire etc. etc.

Well, anyhow i'm glad it's indexed:) offcourse not yet for the needed keywords or that it already hold some sort of serp position but it's a start and seeing some people having trouble getting their site noticed by G i am glad i'm already indexed:cool:

Maybe put up some sort of RSS feed that's relevent to what the sites content will be in the long run that rotates regularly so google starts checking it daily :)

Do blogs get indexed easier? could that have caused the indexing?

Have you checked inbound links on MSN & Yahoo? Google doesn't neccesarily show the backlinks it has found (rather, it never shows them :p)

Did you submit it to any search engines? If not, that's pretty wild. There sure are some old threads getting responses here the last couple days. :(

    yeah...the G toolbar...

If you have the Google toolbar installed, all you
need to do is visit your page, and Google will
    spider it.

How do you know this ayush? This sounds a little far fetched to me. Are you saying that I can visit any webpage with my google toolbar installed and that page will be spidered? Any other opinions on this?

texisman, I also noticed that after installing google toolbar, other pages of my website got indexed. at one point, the it got a pagerank of 3 for some reason. I was testing the looks of my site then and had to hit the pages quite a lot of times. it sounds weird but it happened.

anyways, during the installation, there's a checkbox that asks something like 'would you like google to gather info from your pc'? words are not exactly like that but it's something like that. i think it has some bearing.

I think that it could be the G tool bar too....because I had noticed that some of my .co.in and .in domain names that I had registered also got indexed (without any incoming links). As far as I know, Google is not a registrar for .in domain names...

Google will index the site from the whois database. Sometimes your registrar will allocate a doamin page for you! Had this on mine. Totally empty site not even one page!

it is either from the whois database or someone submitted the site to google.
Sorry- I did not realize that this thread is more than a year old.

Some webhost will use your domain as a featured customer or something.

Yes they are easily indexed faster. Blogs are well loved by Google. Use blogs like wordpress or blogger they are SEO friendly.

    Edz:

I have the same instances that my site has been crawled by G without inlinks. I suspect if you're using shared hosting, this is why your site has been crawled.
