i think it depends on the human. I would have to work out 7.442 hours a day to reach the "healthy" weight for my height...or eat nothing but fruit 5 days a week...

seriously though, I have big bones.

Tim, don't have so little belief in yourself. If you just lift weights hard 3-4 days a week, you will see radical changes in your body in the first month and if you can continue it out through two years, you will have a whole new look and will feel strong and healthy. It also helps to try to change your eating habits. I quit eating candy and pop about 6 years ago and now don't even like them. I still occasionally eat fatty foods though (popcorn, buttery/greasy stuff etc.) I am cutting down on those too and have started to develop a real taste for fish, meat, veggies and fruit. Try it!

Edit: go to bodybuilding.com for a great forum and lots of interesting articles on getting in shape. Be careful to check multiple articles though, as some of these aren't very accurate.

thanks for the words of encouragement/advice. you are exactly right...put your mind to it and you can accomplish anything.

I worked out religiously and ate great for about a year and was ripped (well for me anyway), but then I got lazy.

I'm back on track now, just need to keep at it.

I've lost 24lbs so far. I'll check the links though too, get on a plan :)

I was @ 233lbs at the end of April and since I'm only 5-7&7/8ths that was a BIT much.

that might sound like WAY too much for the height but I'm stocky to begin with.

If I could get to 200 I'd be happy, 190 would be stellar but it would take a very diligent effort on my part to obtain that.

    just need to exercise more!

doing heavy weights while over weight will not equate to weight loss, muscle weights more than fat so inturn you will gain weight, lol!!!!

i'm a gym going fanatic, to loose weight you need to do cardio, fatburn, control diet. Use light weights but do more reps.

    Any more questions just ask!!!

Actually, doing heavy weights builds muscle which makes your body burn more calories in a day, even when you are resting. If you watch your food intake correctly, you can lose fat while doing only a lifting routine with no cardio. Of course, cardio in combination with a good, healthy diet (and by diet, i don't mean that low-carb bullshit, but something that you can follow your whole life) you will get jacked.

A HUGE mistake many people make when trying to get fit is to stand on a scale and see how much they weigh and use that as their measurement of how good they look and how fit they are. Numbers on the scale are meaningless, it's all about how good you feel, how strong/fit you are and how you look. If you put on 25 lbs of lean muscle and lose 25 lbs of fat, the scale will say you've accomplished nothing, when in reality you've completely changed.

Maybe 160 to 200 pounds. Mainly depends on how tall you are.
