Its been asked several times by a lot of people from me as I worked for many sites and did SEO for many of them, its be quite regular that people come to me and do ask me about it as they are themselves interested in promoting their own websites. So I am writing this tutorial on my own and if possible I will make a video so that readers and subscribers can understand easily on what I am talking about here. Well many might know the simple fact that SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, its just a way of optimizing your site in search engines so that your site becomes more visible for internet users around the world. So How It Really Works? For this let us take a simple example assume that you own a finance related blog and in that blog you have many articles with regards to loans and mortgages. Almost more than 95% of the users who use internet use search engines to find out what they really need, most don’t have any idea what information can be found where? so this is where the part of search engines come to play. People use popular search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing etc.. to search for what they really need. For example a person who looks for information regarding mortgages will type in Google like “mortgages rules†or whatever he is looking for regarding mortgage, and Google brings back all the sites that have mortgages in its title or content etc.. as you may know most people are likely to visit the sites that appear in top three positions and its rare that people visit other sites that appear at the bottom and those that appear in other pages. So how to bring up your site to the top three position for the search term or keyword thats what SEO professionals use, “Keywords†thats what the whole process of SEO is about bringing your site up on specific keywords so that your get more hits to your site and also possibly more earnings. I try to put my own definition of Keyword for your better understanding.Keywords are simple search terms in search engines that are used by its users to get what they need or what are they looking for How To Find Keywords That Are Used popularly? Well there are tools available online that gives you more details about your keyword and how many times it is searched per day by how many users and all the details you can get from a keyword research tool and there is also a free google tool available to research for keywords https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal you can use it to look find out more about specific search terms or keywords. I Now Know How To Find Out Keyword But How To Guess A Keyword? This is one of the important for keyword research, in this case you have imagine yourself as person who uses the search engine to find out about something related to the niche of your site. You should try to gather simple search terms that people might use and test it in Google keyword research tool and find out more about those search terms. So that is how it is basically done by SEO professionals and many may use some other tools but I recommend using Google free tool which is really good and even worked really good for me to optimize my client’s sites. I Gather Enough Keywords So What is the Next Step? Once you have gathered enough keywords then next best step is to start with writing articles based on those keywords and also make sure that your keywords are part of the articles you write or you can hire some professional writers who can do it for you. I Got My Articles Rich In Keywords So What’s The Next Step? Next Step would be to get your website or blog url distributed as much as possible and on as many sites as possible and there are ways you can do all that. I try to list some of them which comes to my mind but there are many ways you can do the same, main goal of doing all this is the same we need as many sites linking to us as possible that way search engines will find out site more interesting and get our site on top for several search terms. 1. Link Exchange With Similar Niche Sites: You can try to look for sites of similar nature and ask them for a link trade or link exchange. Link exchange in the sense, you add their site link on your pages and in return the person who owns the site would do the same. 2. Buying One Way Links: Unlike link exchange this one mostly involves you spending money to buy links and spaces on other site to put your links on their site and the best way to look for people who sell their links is to go to some popular webmaster forums like digitalpoint, sitepoint etc.. where you get many site owners who are interested in selling their ad spaces and links. 3. Social Bookmarks: Perhaps one of the most effective way to socialize your contents to public is by using social bookmarking sites like digg, reditt etc. They will not only bring your enough traffic to the site but will also make your link popular and possibly get your site on top for your search terms. 4. Directory Submissions: Recently it is said that directory submissions doesn’t really help in SEO to that extent but the fact remains clear that it does help to some extent so why leave a possibility? Try to find out a good list of directories and if you try to Google it I am sure you will come across many directories where you can submit your sites to. 5. Blog Comments: Making comments on blog posts similar to your site’s niche is one of the best way to increase the backlinks to your site. Most blog comment form come with a space for url, name and your e-mail. Just use your url and you can use your keywords in the place of name and comment as long as your comments are sensible many blog owners don’t delete your comments if you use keywords in the place of name. 6. Using Video sites: Using video sites like youtube is one of the best way to get your site popular and bring more traffic, you can make your own custom videos and tutorial videos on youtube which gets more views usually and watermark your videos with your site name and logo is the best way to get your brand name popular well its not a part of SEO really but its a way to get some direct hits to your site possibly. 7. Forum Posts: Many forums do allow signature links in the signature space provided by them, you can find out forums with high traffic similar to your niche and make signatures there with your site link and keyword and contribute to the forums but don’t spam around in forums which will possibly get you banned from them. 8. Article Submissions: One of the fantastic way to make your site popular is to use article directories like ezinearticles.com where you are allowed to submit your own unique articles and add your links and information about you in resource box. People usually come to these article directories to look for contents and if they like your content they will add your article on their website and also put your details and url on their website at the bottom of the article, this way you gain more backlinks. These are some of the basic and effective ways to make your site popular in search engines that are used by SEO professionals and even by me to make my site popular on Google, Yahoo, Bing etc. I tried my best I can to give brief introduction about everything I mentioned here and I want to let you know that all I said here is not all and there is even more to SEO but people who are new to SEO and who want to know how it is done and how can they make their site popular then you try to follow some of the methods I given here and you are sure to see some results for your efforts you put it.
