Is it possible for a 1 page site to rank high in a certain keyword? When a search engine choose ranking is it based on a single page, does it looks on the single page only or all other pages plays a factor? I mean if page A is optimized for keyword A and linked using anchor text A does page B plays a factor in determining the page A ranking on keyword A? Hehe I'm lost myself i hope somebody understand this..
You can have one page site ranking high. So don't worry even if you have one page site. Make sure you have following. 1. Unique Content. 2. A Content That has meaning and relevance to your keywords. Have at least 300 words content. 3. Do good onsite techniques like H1 tag, Bold for some keywords, Image ALT etc ( I hope you understand onsite, if not, ask me) 4. Build As many links as you can through Exchange of links, One way by articles, directories, PR. 5. Do social book marking. That will surely bring your page in SERP for your keywords.
It is true that Google ranks pages individually on their on merits - on-page SEO as well as inbound links to the page. But generally speaking, Google does not like "thin" sites in their SERPs ESPECIALLY if it is an affiliate site. If a Google Quality Rater stumbles onto a thin affiliate site or they find it because you are reported as having a thin affiliate site then they will likely bury it in the SERPs. If you're going to have a "thin" site then I would suggest that it be all original content that adds value, something unique... and that you continue to build links to it so that it will remain indexed.
Thanks Mahendras.. this is because I have a one page site for the purpose of selling ebooks.. i wonder if one page could rank high in google.
