I am trying to set up my first PHPBB3 forum. I am sure I am doing something dumb.
please watch the short 3 minute video to see the details of the problem I am having. heres the video http://tinyurl.com/d2b73d

Ps: I did not put in a port number cause hostgator told me its the standard port so I followed PHPBB advice and left it blank.

Hey johnfrem..try this for the database name johnfrem_testforum instead of just testforum

Edit: oops! just saw the rest of the video and you indeed tried that..what I would suggest you to do is go back to your MySQL Databases page and then make sure the user has the all privileges.

If you want feel free to PM me the details and I can set it up for you.

Thanks Plot for your advice. Someone over at warrior forum told me my user name was wrong so I made the corrections and he was right I have PhpBB3 installed now and am fooling around in the admin panel.

That is a common mistake... username, password, the name of the database or user privileges. Glad you figure it out.
